Description
さらに、上記の従来技術は、すべり軸受と固定側密封環を兼用するところのスリーブ61が軸方向に移動自在に構成されるタイプ(密封環を弾発する押圧部材が静止側に設置される構造、いわゆる「静止型」である。)であるため、スリーブ61の軸受面の径方向の隙間を大きく設定する必要がある。このため、軸受面において主軸51がガタつき、軸受面が破損される恐れがあるという問題もある。
この特徴によれば、一方の密封環が軸受を兼用できることはもちろん、すべり軸受を構成する一方の密封環の軸方向の移動が不要とされるため、すべり軸受の隙間を小さくすることができ、回転軸の軸ブレが少ない良好なすべり軸受を得ることができる。
また、高圧流体側(被密封流体側)に回転軸を支持するすべり軸受を構成する一方の密封環が設置されるため、すべり軸受の部分に新たに潤滑剤を供給することが不要となる。
さらに、他方の密封環を回転軸の一部で兼用することなく、別の専用の部材から構成することにより、他方の密封環が破損あるいは摩耗により交換する必要が生じた場合において容易に交換をすることができる。また、他方の密封環の設計自由度が増すことから、これを小さくすることができ、それに伴い、軸方向に押圧する押圧部材も小型にすることができるため、全体のコンパクト化を図ることができる。
この特徴によれば、固定側密封環が軸受を兼用できることはもちろん、すべり軸受を構成する固定側密封環の軸方向の移動が不要とされるため、すべり軸受の隙間を小さくすることができ、回転軸の軸ブレが少ない良好なすべり軸受を得ることができる。
また、高圧流体側(被密封流体側)に回転軸を支持するすべり軸受を構成する固定側密封環が設置されるため、すべり軸受の部分に新たに潤滑剤を供給することが不要となる。
さらに、回転側密封環を回転軸の一部で兼用することなく、別の専用の部材から構成することにより、回転側密封環が破損あるいは摩耗により交換する必要が生じた場合において容易に交換をすることができる。また、回転側密封環の設計自由度が増すことから、これを小さくすることができ、それに伴い、軸方向に押圧する押圧部材も小型にすることができるため、全体のコンパクト化を図ることができる。
この特徴によれば、電動ウォーターポンプにおいてスペースの有効利用を図ることができ、電動ウォーターポンプの軸方向の寸法を短縮することができる。

(1)一方の密封環が軸受を兼用できることはもちろん、すべり軸受を構成する一方の密封環の軸方向の移動が不要とされるため、すべり軸受の隙間を小さくすることができ、回転軸の軸ブレが少ない良好なすべり軸受を得ることができる。
図1に示す実施例1は、本発明に係るメカニカルシールが、液体を圧送するポンプ室と空気環境下の電動モータ室とが隣接して配置された小型の電動ウォーターポンプに適用された場合を示すものであって、メカニカルシールとしては、密封面(以下、「摺動面」という場合もある。)の内周から外周方向に向かって漏れようとする高圧流体側の被密封流体を密封する形式のアウトサイド型のものである。
また、ハウジング1は、主にポンプ部3が収納されるポンプハウジング5と、主にモータ部4が収納されるモータハウジング6と、これらを区画する仕切り部材7とを備えている。
なお、大径部2aは、図1に示すような回転軸2と一体の形態に限らず、外径側において磁石15を支持すると共に駆動力を回転軸2に伝達し、内径側において密封環などを収容可能な形態であればよく、例えば、回転軸2と別体の部材で構成されてもよい。
本例において、押圧部材25はベローズから構成されており、ベローズ25の一端はカラー23に連結されると共に、他端はリテーナ24に連結され、回転側密封環21はリテーナ24の端面に焼嵌めまたは圧入されている。
なお、押圧部材としては、ベローズに限らず、コイルスプリングを用いてもよいことはもちろんである。
ベローズ25は、打抜き加工等によって波形環状に形成した金属製のダイアフラム板を複数枚一列に並べて、隣接するダイアフラム板の外径部間及び内径部間をガス溶接等によって交互に連結して、全体を蛇腹筒状に形成したものであって、一端がカラー23側にガス溶接等によって一体に連結されるようになっている。
通常、リテーナ24、ベローズ25およびカラー23を溶接により一体物として製作される。
しかし、この漏洩された液体は、固定側密封環20の摺動面20cと回転側密封環21の摺動面21aとで形成される密封部により密封されるため、密封部より外径側に漏れることはない。また、カラー23はOリング26を介して回転軸2の外周面に固定されているため、回転側密封環21、リテーナ24、ベローズ25及びカラー23の内径側から外方に漏洩することも防止されている。
このように、ポンプ室9内の高圧の液体がモータ部4側に漏洩されることはない。
(1)固定側密封環20に回転軸2を支持するすべり軸受を構成すると共に、回転側密封環21に、該回転側密封環21を軸方向に付勢させる押圧部材25を装着することにより、固定側密封環20で軸受を兼用することができることはもちろん、固定側密封環20の軸方向の移動が不要とされるため、すべり軸受の隙間を小さくすることができる。この結果、固定側密封環20が軸受を兼用したものにおいて、回転軸の軸ブレが少ない良好なすべり軸受を得ることができる。
(2)高圧流体側(被密封流体側)に回転軸2を支持するすべり軸受を構成する固定側密封環20を設置することにより、すべり軸受の部分に新たに潤滑剤を供給することが不要となる。
(3)回転側密封環21を回転軸2の一部で兼用することなく、別の専用の部材から構成することにより、回転側密封環21が破損あるいは摩耗により交換する必要が生じた場合において容易に交換をすることができる。また、回転側密封環21の設計自由度が増すことから、これを小さくすることができ、それに伴い、軸方向に押圧する押圧部材25も小型にすることができるため、全体のコンパクト化を図ることができる。
(4)仕切り部材7の空間内に固定側密封環20を配設することにより、スペースの有効利用を図ることができ、電動ウォーターポンプの軸方向の寸法を短縮することができる。
(5)回転軸2の大径部2aに形成された収容空間2b内に、回転側密封環21、押圧部材であるベローズ25、カラー23及びリテーナ24を配設することにより、電動ウォーターポンプの軸方向の寸法を短縮することができる。
実施例2に係るメカニカルシールは、密封面の外周から内周方向に向かって漏れようとする高圧流体側の被密封流体を密封する形式のインサイド型である点で図1に示す実施例1と相違するが、その他の点は実施例1と基本的に同じであり、図1と同じ部材には同じ符号を付し、重複する説明は省略する。
本例において、押圧部材35はベローズから構成されており、ベローズ35の一端はカラー33に連結されると共に、他端はリテーナ34に連結され、固定側密封環31はリテーナ34の端面に焼嵌めまたは圧入されている。
なお、押圧部材としては、ベローズに限らず、コイルスプリングを用いてもよいことはもちろんである。
ベローズ35は、打抜き加工等によって波形環状に形成した金属製のダイアフラム板を複数枚一列に並べて、隣接するダイアフラム板の外径部間及び内径部間をガス溶接等によって交互に連結して、全体を蛇腹筒状に形成したものであって、一端がカラー33側にガス溶接等によって一体に連結されるようになっている。
通常、リテーナ34、ベローズ35およびカラー33を溶接により一体物として製作される。
しかし、この漏洩された液体は、回転側密封環30の摺動面30cと固定側密封環31の摺動面31aとで形成される密封部により密封されるため、密封部より内径側に漏れることはない。また、カラー33はOリング36を介して仕切り部材37の円筒37cの内周面に固定されているため、固定側密封環31、リテーナ34、ベローズ35及びカラー33の外径側から外方に漏洩することも防止される。
このように、ポンプ室9内の高圧の液体がモータ部4側に漏洩されることはない。
(1)回転軸2を一体的に保持する回転側密封環30にすべり軸受を構成し、固定側密封環31に、該固定側密封環31を軸方向に付勢させる押圧部材35を装着することにより、回転側密封環30で軸受を兼用することができることはもちろん、回転側密封環30の軸方向の移動が不要とされるため、すべり軸受の隙間を小さくすることができる。この結果、回転側密封環30が軸受を兼用したものにおいて、回転軸の軸ブレが少ない良好なすべり軸受を得ることができる。
(2)高圧流体側(被密封流体側)に回転軸2を保持するすべり軸受を構成する回転側密封環30を設置することにより、すべり軸受の部分に新たに潤滑剤を供給することが不要となる。
(3)固定側密封環31を回転軸2の一部で兼用することなく、別の専用の部材から構成することにより、固定側密封環31が破損あるいは摩耗により交換する必要が生じた場合において容易に交換をすることができる。また、固定側密封環31の設計自由度が増すことから、これを小さくすることができ、それに伴い、軸方向に押圧する押圧部材35も小型にすることができるため、全体のコンパクト化を図ることができる。
(4)仕切り部材37の空間内に回転側密封環30を配設することにより、スペースの有効利用を図ることができ、電動ウォーターポンプの軸方向の寸法を短縮することができる。
(5)回転軸2の大径部2aに形成された収容空間2b内に、固定側密封環31、押圧部材であるベローズ35、カラー33及びリテーナ34を配設することにより、電動ウォーターポンプの軸方向の寸法を短縮することができる。

Claims (5)
- ハウジングと回転軸との間に形成された軸封部に装着されて、ハウジングと回転軸との間をシールするメカニカルシールであって、固定側密封環と、該固定側密封環に対向摺接する回転側密封環とを具備し、前記固定側密封環及び前記回転側密封環のうちの一方の密封環が前記回転軸を支持するすべり軸受を構成するようにして被密封流体側に設置されると共に、被密封流体側と反対側に設置される他方の密封環に、該密封環を軸方向に付勢させて両密封環の密封面を押圧させるための押圧部材が装着されることを特徴とするメカニカルシール。
- ハウジングと回転軸との間に形成された軸封部に装着されて、ハウジングと回転軸との間において密封面の外径側に漏れようとする被密封流体をシールするアウトサイド型のメカニカルシールであって、固定側密封環と、該固定側密封環に対向摺接する回転側密封環とを具備し、前記固定側密封環が前記回転軸を支持するすべり軸受を構成するようにして被密封流体側に設置されると共に、被密封流体側と反対側に設置される前記回転側密封環に、該回転側密封環を軸方向に付勢させて両密封環の密封面を押圧させるための押圧部材が装着されることを特徴とするメカニカルシール。
- 前記ハウジングが電動ウォーターポンプのハウジングであって、該ハウジングはポンプ部、モータ部、及び、前記ポンプ部と前記モータ部とを区画する仕切り部材を備え、前記仕切り部材の内周と前記回転軸の外周との間に形成される空間に前記すべり軸受を構成する固定側密封環が配設され、前記固定側密封環の内周に前記すべり軸受が形成されると共に外周と前記仕切り部材の内周との間にはOリングが介在されることを特徴とする請求項2に記載のメカニカルシール。
- ハウジングと回転軸との間に形成された軸封部に装着されて、ハウジングと回転軸との間において密封面の内径側に漏れようとする被密封流体をシールするインサイド型のメカニカルシールであって、固定側密封環と、該固定側密封環に対向摺接する回転側密封環とを具備し、前記回転側密封環が前記回転軸を一体的に保持すると共にすべり軸受を構成するようにして被密封流体側に設置され、被密封流体側と反対側に設置される前記固定側密封環に、該固定側密封環を軸方向に付勢させて両密封環の密封面を押圧させるための押圧部材が装着されることを特徴とするメカニカルシール。
- 前記ハウジングが電動ウォーターポンプのハウジングであって、該ハウジングはポンプ部、モータ部、及び、前記ポンプ部と前記モータ部とを区画する仕切り部材を備え、前記仕切り部材の内周と前記回転軸の外周との間に形成される空間に前記すべり軸受を構成する回転側密封環が配設され、前記回転側密封環の外周に前記すべり軸受が形成されると共に内周と前記回転軸の外周との間にはOリングが介在されることを特徴とする請求項4に記載のメカニカルシール。
