Abstract

 本発明の目的は、光通信システムに用いられる光受信器において、光強度をモニタするとともに、ダイナミックレンジの広い光受信器を提供することである。  上記の目的を達成するため、光受信器は、入力した光を分岐する分光器と、該分光器が分岐した第1の光を受光する第1の受光素子と、該分光器が分岐した第2の光を減衰する光可変減衰器と、該光可変減衰器で減衰した第2の光を受光する第2の受光素子と、該第2の受光素子の出力に基づき該光可変減衰器の減衰量を制御する光可変減衰量制御部と、該第1の受光素子と該第2の受光素子の出力を切替えて、光強度の出力とする光強度モニタ部とを備える。
