Abstract

The present invention is related to chemically degradable and/or biodegradable BOPP film that is suitable for all industrial applications such as packaging or non-packaging applications. The film is rendered degradable and/or biodegradable by addition of agents that promote the degradability by combination of heat and UV in a first step and absorption by micro-organism naturally present in soils (agents promoting degradability are metal carboxylate) in a second step. Film is not accumulated in nature due to a non-hazardous degradation process. The mono or multilayer degradable and/or biodegradable BOPP film is characterized in that the layer(s) comprises degradable masterbatch or compound.
