  • the present invention relates to a pump for providing suction to food storage bags such as freezer bags for removing a substantial quantity of air from such bags.
  • freezer burn of bagged food product can occur. Such freezer burn may be as a result of air remaining within the bag. Often such air includes some degree of humidity within the bag. This captured moisture captured within the air in the bag can lead to freezer burn. As a result it is desirable for freezer bags to be subjected to an air removal step prior to the bag being sealed and placed into a freezer. Suction pumps (also herein referred to as vacuum pumps but it will be appreciated that it is not achieving a vacuum but rather a removal of air and perhaps some reduction in pressure relative to the ambient atmosphere) are known.

Therefore a screw thread arrangement allows for the screwing and unscrewing of the end portion 33 from the body portion 31.

It is however preferably the distal ends of each of the cylinder pistons that have the removable ends thereof as it is this region that is most likely to be affected by contamination of any juices that may flow from the contents of the bag 2.
  • the product is preferably made from materials which are dishwasher safe and as such a disassembled pump wherein the end portions 33 and 34 are removed, can be placed in a dishwasher for the thorough cleaning of all of the surfaces of the device.

Abstract

L'invention concerne une pompe manuelle (1), qui comprend: un élément cylindrique intérieur rigide (31), un élément cylindrique extérieur rigide (32) monté de façon télescopique et coulissante sur l'élément cylindrique intérieur. L'élément cylindrique intérieur présente une ouverture d'aération à valve (17) à une première extrémité et une ouverture d'aération à une seconde extrémité. L'élément cylindrique extérieur présente une ouverture d'aération à valve (19). Les ouvertures d'aération à valve permettent: a) d'aspirer l'air par l'ouverture d'aération à valve de l'extrémité distale de l'élément extérieur et de l'envoyer à l'intérieur de la pompe au cours d'une course d'aspiration; et b) d'évacuer l'air par l'ouverture d'aération de l'élément cylindrique intérieur au cours d'une course de retour. Au moins l'élément intérieur ou l'élément extérieur présente un ensemble constitué d'un corps principal (31, 32) et d'une coiffe d'extrémité distale (33, 34) amovible en prise avec le corps principal.
