Description
DFIQWING FQGE UNAVAILABLE DOCUMENT NUMBER PATENT OFFICE.
NATHANIEL WESTON, OF SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA.
DESIGN FOR A CAMEO CARD-MOUNT.
Specification forming part of Design No. 9,203, dated April 4, 1876; application filed February 23, 1876.
. [Term of Patent 7 years] To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, NATHANIEL WESTON, of the city and county of San Francisco, State of California, have originated and invented a Design for a Cameo Card-Mount for Photographs, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying samples, making a part of this specification.
Let A represent a card-mount, upon which the photographic picture or illustration is to be secured.
The particular kind of card to which my design is applicable is that in which the central portion of the card, or that portion upon which the photograph is to be pasted, is raised or embossed, so as to form what is known as the cameo style of photographs.
Heretofore the embossed or raised portion of these cameo cards has been made with plain lines only.
My design is comprehended in the embossed or raised portion of the card, with a scalloped border or irregular lines. The particular style or scallop or irregularity is immaterial so long as the line is not a plain smooth one. The object of this irregular or scalloped-border is to ornament the cameo by relieving it of its stifi'uess of outline, thus rendering it more pleasing and sightly in appearance.
What I claim as my invention is- The design for a cameo card-mount for photographic pictures, consisting of the scalloped border, substantially as described, and shown in the accompanying illustration.
NATHANIEL WESTON.
