Description

UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ROBERT B. ESLER, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
DESIGN FOR A WATCH-CHARM.
Specification forming part of Design No. 9,005, dated February 15, 1876; application filed September 29,1875.
[Term of Patent 7 years] To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ROBERT B. ESLER, Ot' Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, have invented a Design for Jewelry, 85e., ol which the following is a specification:
This invention relates to au improved design for a charm.
The nature of' my design is fully represented in the accompanying photographie illustration, to which reference is made.
The letter A represents a cube or truncated pyramid, oil any suitable size, made either hollow or solid, and has formed at its upper edges a convex bead, B, setting below the straight shoulders b I), formed at right angles to each other, for the purpose ot' finishing the plain edges at the top ol" the pyramid, and giving it a more pleasing' appearance. Itis provided with a ring or hook, a, by means ot' which it may be secured to a chain or other article. The four faces or sides of the cube or truncated pyramid are each inscribed with the names ot' fourteen of fifty-six signers of the Declaration of Independence, and the article is to be known as the original tifty-siX-pound weight.
I am aware that a watch-charm consisting .i
of a representation of the original independence fitty-six-pound weight is not of itseltl new, such being shown in the design-patent to Ali'red Hut't'nagle, dated February l0, 1874, No. 7,164, which I disclaim.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for a watch-charm composed ot' a truncated square pyramid having around its edges, at the upper or smaller end, a bead, B, interposed between the straight shoulders b b andthe sides or faces, substantially as described, and shown in the accompa-nyingillustration.
