DESIGN FOR A PAINT-BRUSH.

The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.

To all persons t0 whom these presents may come:

Be it known that I, JOHN L. VHITING, oi' Boston, in the county of' Suffolk and State ot' Massachusetts, have invented or produced a new and useful Design fbraPaint-Brush; and do hereby declare the same to be fully described in the following specitication and represented in the accompanying drawing, of which- Figure 1 is a front View;

Figure 2, a side elevation and Figure 3, a tcp viewcf a brush made in accordance with such design.

One characteristic of such design is an oval or eiiiptical ferrule, A;

Another is an oval or elliptical head, B, made to fit into the upper end of snch fel-rule;

Another isa corneal handle, C; and, finally,

The last characteristic is a mass, D, of' bristles,

oval or elliptical in transverse section, and tapered relatively to the ferrule. iu mannelas represented in the drawing.

The brush having such form, besides being ornamental, is useful.

I am aware that brushes have been made with heads, ferrules, and handles having parallel opposite sides, and consequently make no claim to any design of' such character.

That I claim is- The design, substantially as described, for a paintbrush, such design being composed of the four characteristics hereinbeiore rst enumerated.
