DESIGN FOR CARRIAGE-BOOT.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
To all whom 'it 'may concern Be it known that I, EDWARD WELLS, of New Haven, in the count-y of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented a new Design for Carriage- Boot; nud I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawing and the letters of' reference marked thereon, to be a full, clear, and exact description ot' the same, and which said dmwing constitutes part of this specifica.- tion, and represents n Figure 1, a. side view;
Figure 2, :t top view; and in Figure 3, a. section on line :c x of tig. 1.
This invention relates 4to a, design for that part of a. coach or carriage known as the hoot, that is to say, the support for the drivers seat, and under which the fifth-wheel or connecting device for thevforward axle is arranged; and
The invention consists in the peculiar configure tion and shape of the boot, as more fully'herenfter described.

c, the lower surface, to which the forward axle-ntiachment is secured, and from which the boot extends hack to the carriage, shown as broken oli' at d.
Upon the upper side, from the sent down toward the carriage-body, the hoot is formed, connnencing at an ovni shape, as at a,and running into nearly a. semicirculnr form on line x x, thence into an oval or nearly at shape at the carriage-body.
This design or shape gives to the boot n neat and tasteful appearance, which has not heretofore been produced.
I claim as my invention- 'lhe design forearriage-boot, substantially as herein described and shown.
