APPLICATION FILED APR. 11, 1903.
I 1/ BY W ATTORNEYS UNITED STATES Patented May 19, 1903.
PATENT OFFICE.
ROBERT L. JOHNSON, OF HANLEY, ENGLAND.
DESIGN FOR A CUP.
To aZZ whmn it puny concern:
Be it known that 1, ROBERT L. JoHNsoN, a subject of the King of Great Britain, and a resident of Hanley, Staifordshire, England, have invented and produced a new, original, and ornamental Design for a Cup, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof, in which-- Figure 1 is a perspective view of a cup embodying the features of my design, and Fig. 2 is a bottom plan View of the same.
The design consists in the following exterior formation and decorations: The upper portion of the cup is plain and cylindrical; but that portion adjacent and leading to the bottom flange is vertically fluted, the depressions producing the fluted effect being pronounced at the bottom portion of the body, but gradually merge into the said plain upper surface. The handle is a ring-handle in the form of a continuous stem and is at one side of the body of the cup. At the bottom of each alternate pair of knuckles or projections on the body formed by the aforesaid depressions leaf decorations appear, the leaves being placed stem to stem, and between each group of leaves a bar-scroll is introduced.
' Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The ornamental design for a cup herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I have signed .my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
ROBERT L. JOHNSON.
