Be it known that LWILLIAM FREDERICK, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Newcastle, in the county of Lawrence and State ofPennsylvania, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Violin-Body and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to certain new and original designsin violins; and it consists in the novel form, configuration, and shape of violin, all of which will be herein explained in detail.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is an enlarged side elevation of my new and original design. Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view taken on the line 2 2 of Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a contracted plan view of my design.
Referring to the drawings by reference-numerals, 1 indicates the body portion of the violin, which is formed of curved lines 2 and a curved bottom 3, the outer contour of the body portion being curved inwardly,as shown at 4, and having openings formed therein, (indicated by the reference-numeral 5.)
The reference-numeral 6 indicates a fingerboard having a downwardly-curved point 7, upon which is arranged an ornamental head 8.
The reference-numeral 14 indicates a cutaway portion on the one side of the body portion.
It will be seen that the herein-described violin presents a most novel and attractive appearance to the eye and is composed of straight and curved lines, as shown, having attached thereto an ornamental head that further adds to the appearance of the design.
Having fully described my invention, What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
