DESIGN FOR A HEEL-PAD FOR HOR SESHOES,
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 34,674, dated June 18,
Application filed April 4, 1901. Serial No. 54,390. Term of patent 14 years.

.C Be it known that I, J OHN Anson BUCK, a 1
tizen of the United States, residing at Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for aHeel-Pad for Horseshoes, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part thereof, in which Figure 1 is a bottom plan view showing my newly-designed heel-pad for horseshoes, and Fig. 2 a transverse section thereof on the line w 00.
The newly-designed heel-pad for a horseshoe herein shown and described is intended for the right-hand side of the foot of the horse; and the leading or material feature thereof consists in the shape of the body portion a of the pad, which is much wider near the rear end thereof than at the front end and the outer side of which is convex, as shown at b, and the inner side from the wider rear portion thereof to the front end of the pad being concave, as shown at c, and the rear end of the pad being beveled outwardly and backwardly, as shown at d. The pad is also provided with an outwardly-directed horizontal flange e at the outerside thereof, which is flush with that portion of the pad adjacent in use to the hoof of the horse. As shown in the drawings, the bottom or bearing surface of the pad is also provided with a roughened surface g, having grooves h and 70, which are Widely separated at the Wider body portion of the pad, but which come together'at the rear end of the pad, as shown at m, and also near the front end of the pad, as shown at n, from which point to the front end of the pad is a single groove 0.
Having fully described my invention, What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for a heel pad for a horseshoe herein shown and described.
