UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
CLAUDE R. SILVERS, OF PERU, INDIANA, ASSIGNOR OF ONE-HALF TO ALPHEUS J. HEAVNER, OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR A HOLDBACK-IRON.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 34,487, dated May 7, 1901. Application iiled March 11,1901. Serial No. 50,769. Term of patent 14 years.
To @ZZ whom it may concern,.-
Be it known that I, CLAUDE R. SILVERS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Peru, in the county of Miami and State of Indiana, have invented and produced a certain new and original Design for a Holdback-Iron; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
The invention relates to a new and original design for a holdback-iron; and it consists of a design ofthe shape and configuration shown in the accompanying drawings, in Which- Figure lis a bottom perspective view, and Fig. 2 is a longitudinal sectional view.
The essential features of the design are set forth in the following description:
l represents a thin, fiat, and comparatively wide bar formed at one end with a Hattened enlargement 2, conforming to the width of the bar, but increasing the thickness at that end of the bar to approximately double the thickness of the body of the bar. A slot or eye 3 extends laterally through the enlarged end of the bar and obliquely to the length of the bar. The top and bottom walls 4 and 5 of this slot are fiat and disposed in parallel planes. At its inner obliquely-extending end 6 the enlargement 2 curves downwardly and gradually vanishes into the plane of the upper surface of the body of the bar. The outer end 7 of the enlarged portion of the bar also extends obliquely to the body of the bar and is curved or rounded off at its upper edge, as shown.
What I claim is- The design for a holdback-iron as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence of two subscribing Witnesses.
CLAUDE R. SILVERS. Witnesses:
FRANK D. BUTLER, LYMAN B. SULLIVAN.
