UNITED STATES- PATENT OFFICE.
WILLIAM E. KIRCHI-IOFF, OF SORANTON, PENNSYLVANIA.
DESIGN FOR A WASHBOARD.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 32,456, dated April 3, 1900.
Application filed March 9, 1900, Serial No. 8,085. Term of patent 7 years.
To rrZZ whom it may concern:
Beit known that LWiLLinmEKmcnnorr, a citizen of the United States, residing atScranton, in the county of Lackawanna and State of Pennsylvania, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Washboards, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part thereof.
In the accompanying drawings, in which a like reference characters denote like parts in the several views, Figure 1 is a plan view of a washboard embodying my new and original design; Fig. 2, a partial section thereof upon the line 2 2 of Fig. 1, and Fig. 3 a partial section thereof upon the line 3 3 in Fig. 1.
As shown in the drawings, the leading or material feature of my design comprises'a plurality of compositely-arranged diamondshaped sections of two separate and distinct forms, denoted, respectively, by the general reference characters 4 and 5. The diamondshaped sections at each embody a plurality of parallel surface ridges 45", arranged in parallelism with one of the sides of the respective section and each having a broad face or side a and a relatively-narrow face or side 4. The corresponding ends of the ridges 4c are cutoff or beveled at at at an angle with the surface plane of the washboard corresponding with the similar angle formed by each of the relatively-narrow faces or sides 4 thereof, and the opposite ends of the ridges 4 are cut ofI" or beveled at a at an angle with the surface plane of the washboard corresponding with the similar angle formed by each of the broad faces or sides 4 thereof.
The diamond-shaped sections 5 each embody a plurality of surface ridges 5, 5 and 5, arranged in parallelism with the longer axis of the respective section 5. The ridge 5 embodies two narrow angularly-divergent faces 5 and one relatively-broad face 5 The ridge 5 embodies a narrow face 5 and a relatively-broad face 5 the ends 5 of the ridges 5* being out off or beveled at an angle with the surface plane of the washboard coinci dent with the similar angle formed by the narrow face o thereof. The ridge 5 embodies a top face 5 approximately parallel with the surface plane of the washboard, a narrow face or side 5, and two relatively-broad faces or sides 5, which form each an angle with the surface plane of the washboard approximately equal to the similar angle formed by the face or side 5 of the ridge 5". The several edge sections 4 and 5 are cut away to form a regularity of composite edge formation.
Having fully described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The design for a washboard, substantially as herein shown and described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my invention I have signed my name, in presence of the subscribing witnesses, this 7th day of March, 1900.
WVILLIAM E. KIRCIIl-IOFF.
