DESiGN FDR A LAWN-SPRiNKLER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 31,549, dated September 26, 1899.
Applicatio fi ed July 81, 1899. $erifll 725,701. Term of patent 7 years.
.To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, ELIJAH MCCOY, a citi- Zen of the United States, residing at Detroit, county of Wayne, and State of Michigan, havc invented and produced a new and original Design for a Lawn-Sprinkler, of' which the following is a specification, reference being bad to the accompanying drawings, which form a part of this specification.
Figure 1 of the drawings is a view in perspective, showing features of my new design. Fig. 2 is a vertical longitudinal section.
As shown in the drawings, one feature, of my design for a lawn-sprinkler consists of a shell,(indicated at A,) forming the top or cover portion of the body of the sprinkler, said top or cover portion of the body being an imitation of a turtle-shell, said shell being convexed in longitudinal section and also i n crosssection and having a ron nd ed margin or outer edge indented at intervals, as indicated at a, the body of the shell formed with a series of irregularly-shaped indentations a, giving to the body of the sprinkler the appearance of a turtle-shell. The indentations in the top portion A are disposed and arranged to correspond with similar indentations on a turtle-shell and intersect one another transversely and longitudinally of the shell, said indentations running from end to end and from side to side of the portion A.
Another and leading feature of my design consists in the under portion or base of the sprinkler, which is indicated at B, the same being slightly curved at the front and rear extremities,as at b b Intermediate its ends the under portion Bis formed with marginal upturned and outwardly-projecting flanges, (indicated at 1) b the parts A and B being united at the flanges b and b. The under portion or base B is also formed with upwardly-projecting brackets toward the front and rear thereof, (indicated at b 5 a pipe C being engaged with said brackets. The forward end of the pipe terminates in ahead, (indicated at 1),) the head being an imitation of a tnrtles head, the head terminating in an upturned pipe d, the pipe proceeding out of the mouth of the turtles head. \Vith the pipe is engaged a sprayer-nozzle, (indicated at E.) The pipe G extends longitudinally of the under portion of the shell and intermediate the lateral edges thereof, the pipe projecting from the rear end of the cover and base and being of equal diameter throughout and terminating in a hose connection E.
The design as a whole is obviously a tasteful and attractive one for a device of this character and is of a shape to be easily moved about a lawn.
Having described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The design for a lawn-sprinkler, as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I sign this specification in the presence of two witnesses.
