DESIGN FOR A WHEEL.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 30,967, dated June 6, 1899.
Application filed April 14, 1899. Serial No. 713,059. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whmn it may concern.-
He it known that I, HARRY (i. CLAY, acitizen of the United States, residing at Columbus, in the county of Bartholomew and State of Indiana,have invented and produced a new and original Design for \Vheels, of which the following is a specification.
The accompanying drawing illustrates my invention.
In the drawing, 1 indicates a hub having circumferential flanges 2 and 3. Secured to flange 2 are the inner ends of two series of spokes 4 and 5, the outer ends of which are secured to the rim 6. Spokes 4 and 5 are arranged tangentially to the axis, the adjacent spokes of the two series crossing each other near their inner ends. The outer ends of spokes 4; and 5 lie in the same circumferential line, while the inner ends are staggered, as clearly shown in the drawing. Secured to flange S are the inner ends of two similar se ries of spokes 7 and S, the outer ends of which are secured to the rim 6 along one circumferential line, while the inner ends are staggered, as shown.
The essential feature of my design consists of the two series of crossing spokes, the hub ends of which are staggered.
I claim as my invention The design for a wheel, substantially as 30 shown and described.
