DESIGN FOR A FORK 0R SPOON-HANDLE CALLED ITALIO.
TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that I, GEORGE WILKINSON, of the city and county of Providence, and State of Rhode Island have originated a new Design for Articles of Silver, and other metals and plated ware, of which the following i a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying specimens or drawings, making part of this specification; that is to say, fora design called the Italic," for the handles of spoons, forks, and other table-ware and implements,'of which- Figure 1 of the said drawing is a View of the front side of the said design.
The said design consists of the general outline, shape, form, or contour of the handle, as represented, with ornamental configurations of a character suited thereto.
The said outline comprises aflat stem or shaft, J, contracted from the shouldersf, and expanding gradually, with an almost imperceptible curve, to the width required for' the blade H, thence curving easily toward the extremity of the handle, which terminates in a half-diamond shape peak S.
The surface and edges of this design are without ornamentation of any kind, except so far as is represented in the drawing, that is, with a slightly-rounded or bevelled edge on the front side, extending from the diamond peak S to the point it of the stem or shaft, where it commences to expand.
