UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ORVIS BULLOCK, OF SPRINGFIELD, MASSACHUSETTS.
WATCH-MAKERS AND JEWELERS TOOL.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 251,183, dated December 20, 1881. Application filed November 21, 1881. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ORVIS W. BULLOCK, a citizen ot'the United States, residing at Springfield, in the county of Hampden and State of Massachusetts, have invented new and useful Improvements in Watch -Makers and Jewelers Tools, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to the construction of a single tool for watch-makers and jewelers in which are combined both tweezers and a case-opener, the object being to provide said two implements in one, for the greater convenience of the above-named artificers, whereby the frequent change oftools usually demanded in such work as theirs is to a considerable extent obviated.
In the drawings forming part of this specification, Figure 1 illustrates, in a plan view, a combination-tool consisting of tweezers and a watch-case opener all in one and constructed according to' my invention. Fig.2 is an edge "iew of the same tool.
In the drawings, 1) indicates the central or body part of the tool. a a are the two legs of the tweezers. c is the case-opener, and e is its sharpened edge.
The within-described improved tool is made preferably from steel, but may be constructed of any metal having the requisite qualities of elasticity and hardness.
The body I) of the tool is composed of the united wider portions of the two legs a a, in the usual way of making tweezers alone, said legs extending therefrom separately a suitable distance to obtain the desired lightness and flexibility, and to permit of forming their points into convenient shape for handling small and delicate objects. One end of one of said legs is made to extend beyond said body b, in the opposite direction to the pointed ends of the tweezer-legs, forming the watch-case opener c, and the end of the latter is of a curved form, and has its edge made thin and of tapering form, to adapt it to be forced between the parts ofa watch-case for the purpose of prying open the latter.
What I claim as my invention is- As a new article of manufacture, the Within-
