UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
THEODORE \V'. FOSTER, OF PROVIDENCE, RHODEISLAND.
DESIGN FOR A HANDLE FOR BUTTON-HOOKS OR SIMILAR ARTICLES.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 26,214, dated October 27, 1896.
Application filed J me 11, 1896. $erial No. 595,219. Term of patent 7 years.
To ctZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, THEODORE W. Fosrnn, of Providence, in the county of Providence and State of Rhode Island, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Handles for Button-Hooks and Similar Articles; and I hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part of this specification.
The drawing is a side View of my newlydesigned handle, showing the same connected with a button-hook in solid lines and with a nail-file indicated in broken lines.
The leading features of my design consist in the raised floral Wreath at the larger end of the handle, the bulb at the smaller end of the handle ornamented with a floral Wreath, and the flat tapering panels extending from the ornamentation at the larger end to and merging with the ornamentation at the smaller end of. the handle.
In the drawing, a indicates the upper and larger end of the handle of practically semispherical outline ornamented with two raised floral wreaths I), one on each side of the handle, the space between the two wreaths being ornamented by the foliations 0. At the extreme upper end is the raised ornament cl, representing a ribbon bow, by which two wreaths are tied together. From the Wreath b the floral pendant e extends over the upper part of the panel f. The panels 9 g and f contract in width as they extend toward the smaller end of the handletand curve outward at their-lower end to form the bulb h, on each side of which is the raised floral wreath with the ribbon how 70. The handle terminates in the round bead Z. The side shown in the drawing is a facsimile of the opposite side of the handle.
Having thus described my newly-designed handle, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent The design for handles for button-hooks and similar articles herein shown and described.
In witness whereof I have hereunto setmy hand.
