DESIGVN FOR A HOOK.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 24,539, dated August 13, 1895.
Application filed March 25,1895. Serial No 543,158. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JULIUS BERKEY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Grand Rapids, in the county of Kent and State of Michigan, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Hooks; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof.
The invention relates toa new and original design for hooks; and it consists in the peculiar shape, as shown in the accompanying drawings, wherein- Figure 1 represents the design in perspective; Fig. 2, in top plan, and Fig. 3 in bottom plan.
The design as illustrated consists of the two straight portions A (shown in Fig. 3) formed into a loop, as B, the turnedup tongue section 0 extending from the straight outer shank A and overhanging the shank. The section at the base of the part 0 at one side is turned directly down, forward, and parallel with the shanks, and at a point on a plane with the point between the ends of the part C it is turned horizontally outward into a loop D substantially circular.
The essential feature is the design for the hook having the straight side, the loop B, the overhanging part 0, the turned-under and forwardlyextending part 0 having a horizon tal loop D located at a point on a plane between the ends of the overhanging part C, all as shown.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed, and desired to be secured by Letters Patent, is-
The design for a hook, substantially as shown and described.
