DESIGN FOR A COOKING STOVE OR RANGE.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 24,267, dated April 30, 1895. Application filed February 21,1895. Serial No. 539,289. Term of patent 7 yearsv To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that we, WALTER S. STEVEN SON and CLARENCE V. ROBERTS, citizens of the United States, and residents of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, have invented a certain Design for a Cooking Stove or Range, of which the following is a specification.

Our design for a cooking stove or range is shown in the accompanying drawing,- which represents a front view of said stove or range.

The design comprises a number of essential and distinctive features, namely, the frame of the base 1, the frame of the body 2, the back plate 3, the elevated boiler shield 4, the front plate of the elevated warming oven 5, the elevated warming oven doors 6, the oven door 7, the front fire door 8, the upper ash pit door 9, the lower ash pit door 10 and the lower warming oven door 11.

The leading or characteristic features of the design are found on the various oven doors, the front of the upper warming oven, and the elevated boiler shield of the stove or range, and comprise scrolls, knots of ribbon, wreaths, and rows of blocks of square or pyramidal form disposed in different combinations upon the various parts referred to.

The essential features of ornamentation of the frame of the base 1 are the vertical ribbed quarter columns 12 at the ends of said base and therow of square blocks 13 extending along the top of the base from one of said columns 12 to the other.

The essential feature of ornamentation of the frame of the body 2 is the quarter columns 14 at the ends of said body, these 001- umns being composed of curved ribs lying closely together.

The essential feature of ornamentation of the back 3 is the base bands 15 each of said bands having at the bottom a row of pyramidal blocks 16 and above the same a band of scroll work.

The essential features of ornamentation of the boiler shield plate 4 are the body 17 having indentations in imitation of hammered work, the central tablet 18 with scrolls above and below the same and the representation of loosely tied bows or knots of ribbon 19 on each side of said central tablet.

The essential features of ornamentation of the front plate of the elevated warming oven 5 are the row of pyramidal blocks 20 extending along the top of the same and the representation of loosely tied bows or knots of ribbon 21 at each end of the plate,'eaoh of these representations being surrounded by a border of squareblocks 22.

The essential feature of ornamentation of the upper warming oven doors 6 is the representation of drapery 23 pendent from the corner rosettes 24 from which also extend waving ribbons 25.

The essential features of ornamentation of the oven door 7 are the ribbed edge 26, the central shield 27 having a stippled ground with scrolls thereon, the wreath 28 below said shield and the loosely tied bows or knots of ribbon 29 in the upper corners of the door.

The essential features of ornamentation of the front fire door 8 are the ribbed edge 30, the scroll 31 and the rosettes 32.

The essential features of ornamentation of the upper ash pit door 9 are the depending leafy scrolls 33, the leafy scroll 34 at the side edge of the door and the row of pyramidal blocks 35 at the lower edge.

The essential features of ornamentation of the lower ash pit door 10 are theribbed border 36 and the four corner scrolls 37 inclosing the central rosette 38.

The essential features of ornamentation of the lower Warming oven door 11 are the ribbed border 39 and the wreath 40 hung to the corner rosettes 41 from which extend waving ribbons 42.
