FOLKERT KAEMPEN, JR, OF QUINCY, ILLINOIS, ASSIGNOR TO THE GEM CITY STOVE MANUFACTURING COMPANY, OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR A STOVE OR RANGE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 23,612, dated August 28 1894.
Application filed [Tune 29, 1894. serial No. 516,123. Term of patent 3% years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, FOLKERT KAEMPEN, J r., a citizen of the United States, residing at Quincy, in the county of Adams and State of Illinois, have invented new and useful Improvements in a Design for a Stove, of which the following is a specification.
My design relates to surface ornamentation of stoves and ranges, and the leading or distinguishing feature thereof is a bulbous and scrolled ornamentation, and said design contemplates other distinguishing characteristics all as hereinafter described and claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which the figure is a perspective view of a stove or range ornamented in accordance with my design.
In the said drawing, the reference numeral 1 designates the base-flange with longitudinal bars or flutes 2, running from a central raised figure 3, suggesting a face, and terminating at their ends in scrolls 4.
5, represents the supporting legs, extending below the base-flange and having crocketlike bulbous ornamentations 6, separating the scrolls of contiguous bars or flutes 2.
The base-flange 1, and legs 5, are surmounted by a skirting resembling beads gradually decreasing in size from the middle to the ends.
7, represents the oven door, having a centrally located panel comprising a concaved Maltese cross within a crescent-shaped device 8, overlaying a bulbous and scrolled ornamentation 9.
10, is the shell-like handle having similar bulbous and scrolled ornamentation.
11, designates the reservoir side, ornamented with stems having radiating bulbous tips 12, and scrolled ends 13.
14, represents the fire-door ornamented like the reservoir side with bulbous and scrolled stems.
15, is the fire-door handle, in contour and appearance resembling a horn.
16, represents a grate-bar handle with outwardly flaring scrolls 17.
18, is the front door, ornamented with bulbous and scrolled stems 19, like the fire-door and reservoir side.
20, represents the feed door, ornamented with bulbous and scrolled stems 21.
22, is the oven door pedal having radiating bulbous stems.
23, represents the stove-pipe shelf bracket having a centrally located figure 24, suggesting a face, with bulbous and scrolled stems 25 radiating therefrom and filling the surface of the bracket.
26, is the pipe-shelf railing having scrolled and bulbous stem ornamentation.
27, is the tea-shelf base having a centrally located rosette 28, at both sides of which is arranged bulbous and scrolled stems 29.
The back of the stove is also provided with ornamentation consisting of bulbous and scrolled stems. 7
What I claim is-- 1. In a design for a stove or range, the design for the base-flange comprising longitudinal bars or flutes running from a central raised figure and terminating in scrolls, as described and shown.
2. In a design for a stove or range, the design for the legs, comprising the bulbous, crocket-like ornamentation 6, as shown and described.
3. In a design for a stove or range, the design for an oven-door consisting of a centrally located panel comprising a Maltese cross within a scrolled and crescent-shaped ornamentation, and bulbous and scrolled ornamentation radiating from said panel, as shown and described.
4. In a design for a stove or range, the shelllike design for an oven-door handle, having bulbous and scrolled ornamentation, as shown and described.
5. In a design for a stove or range the design for a reservoir panel, ornamented with stems having bulbous tips and scrolled ends, as shown and described.
6. In a design for a stove or range the design for a fire-door, ornamented with bulbous and scrolled stems, as shown and described.
7. In a design for a stove or range, the design for a feed-door, comprising bulbous and scrolled stems, as shown and described.
8.
