UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JAMES H. FOUNTAIN AND HENRY S. PARKER, OF ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI.
DESIGN FOR AN IRONING-BOARD.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 23,738, dated October 23, 1894.
Application filed September 10, 1894- Serial No. 522,668. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that We. JAMES H. FOUNTAIN and HENRY S. PARKER, of the city of St. Louis, State of Missouri, have invented a new and original Design for Ironing-Boards. of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had-to the accompanying drawings, forming a part hereof.
In the drawings: Figure l is a perspective view of an ironing-board embodying our design. Fig. 2 is an enlarged vertical section taken on the line 2-2 of Fig. 1, and looking in the direction indicated by the arrow. Fig. 3 is an enlarged cross-sectional view on the line 3-3 of Fig. 1.
The characteristic feature of our design consists in a curved horizontal body having a rounded upper surface and a rounded free end which is located in a vertical plane some distance above the upper surface of the base upon which said body is supported.
1 indicates a base or pedestal which is rectangular in plan view and from the upper surface of which, at one end thereof, rises the larger end 2 of the main feature of our design, which is as above stated the curved horizontal body 3 having a rounded upper surface 4 and a rounded free terminal 5, which is located in a vertical plane some distance above the upper surface of the base 1 with a clear space between these two parts.
Extending from the inner edge of the end 2 of the curved body 3 in a line with the base thereof, is a tapered or inclined body 6, the upper face of which is united with the lower adjacent face of said curved body.
What we claim is-- The design for an ironing-board as herein shown and described.
