SIDNEY SMITH, OF BRIDGEPORT, ASSIGNOR TO THE WILLIAM ROGERS MANU- FACTURING COMPANY, OF HARTFORD, CONNECTICUT.
DESIGN FOR A SPOON, FORK, OR SIMILAR ARTICLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 23,326,
dated June 5,1894.
Application filed May 7,1894. Serial No. 510,406. Term of patent 7 years.
To an whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, SIDNEY SMITH, a citizen of the United States, residing at Bridgeport, in the county of Fairfield and State of Connecticut, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Spoons, Forks, or Similar Articles; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming a part thereof.
The drawing is an elevation of a spoon embodying my novel design, the outline of a fork appearing in dotted lines.
The leading features of my novel design consist of the shape and ornamentation of the handle as herein described and shown. The outlines of both edges of the handle consist of series of curves, the face of a portion of the handle being ornamented at the edge by rounded beads and also by conventional foliate ornamentation.
1 denotes the center which is plain and may be either flat or slightly rounded.
2 denotes the shank which is plain and slightly rounded.
3 denotes rounded beads at the edges and 4 denotes conventional foliate ornamentation.
At the base of the handle, that is, at the intersection of the shank with the bowl I provide other ornamentation as at 5 of the same general character as the foliate ornamentation on the handle proper.
What I claim is- The design for a handle for spoons, forks and similar articles substantially as described and shown.
In testimony whereof I affix my signaturein presence of two witnesses.
SIDNEY SMITH.
