Description

DESIGN.
J. P. OUERBAGKER. FIRE PLACE FRONT.
No. 21,122. Patented Out. 20, 1891.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
J OSElll l. OUERBAUKER, OF LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY, ASSIGNOR TO THE 0. K. S'lGVli. AND RANGE COMPANY, OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR A FIRE-PLACE FRONT.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 21,122, dated October 20, 1891.
Application filed September 14, 1891. Serial No. 405,706. Term of patent 3%. years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, JOSEPH P. OUERBAGKER, of the city of Louisville, county of Jefferson, and State of Kentucky, have invented and 5 produced a new and original Design for Grates, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the annexed drawings, forming a part thereof.
Figure 1 is a front elevation of my new grate, I0 and Fig. 2 is a side view of the face-plate thereof with the grate-basketremoved.
The leading feature of my design consists of the arched hood A, which rises in a continuous line from a point near the top line of the fire-pot and extends from thence in a curved line to a point at the same elevation at the opposite side thereof, while said hood at its lower ends terminates in a slight molding to relieve the abruptness of its blending :0 with the plain panels B, which commence at the lower ends of said hood and extend from thence to a point near the bottom of the faceplate of the grate-front, so that said hood rises from the general plane of the plate only above the line of the fire-grate. Extending from a point near the bottom of the face-plate at both sides of the fire-grate there isa raised and ornamented head 0, which forms a continuous line along the sides and across the top of the face-plate along the outer edge thereof. Near each upper corner of the faceplate is a raised branch or twig D, provided with foliage somewhat resembling that of the oak, which branch lies bet-ween the hood A and bead U, nearly filling the space between them and rising from an otherwise plain border-section surrounding the hood.
What I claim as new is The design for a mantel or grate front, snbstantially as herein shown and described, the same consisting of the central curved hood A, panels B B, and the border, substantially as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto signed my name, in the presence of two attesting witnesses, at Louisville, in the county of Jefferson, in the State of Kentucky, this 1st dayof September, 1891.
JOSEPH P. OU'ERBACKER.
