lie it known that I, GEORGE 1 'llLToN. of Newburyport, Massachusetts, have invented a Design for Spoons, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying' drawing, forming a part of this specification, in which the figure representsafaee view of a spoon embodying my new design.
The design consists in the ornamentation shown, and comprises the handle ornamentation and the bowl ornamentation. The handle ornamentation consists of the figure a, representing Columbus as standing on a shore and bearing aloft a flag with one hand.
he minor features of thehandle ornamentation include a sword b in one hand of the figure a, a ribbon figure 0, bearing the inscription Landing of Columbus, 1492, and the figure (1, representing a rope ranging longitudinally at the base of the handle and looped adjacent to the bow]. 'lheinseription mentioned forms no part ofthe design. The bowl ornamentation comprises the representation of three caravels 0, having their sails set, one of said caravelsappearingin advance of the others.
