SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 20,732, dated May 19, 1891.
Application filed April 18 1891. Serial No. 389,508 Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE P. TILTON, of Newburyport, Massachusetts, have invented a Design for Spoons, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawing, forming a part of this specification, in which the figure is a face view of a spoon embodying my new design.
For my present design I have devised and adopted figures and symbols commemorative and remindful of the historic character Leif or Leif Ericson, the reputed or legendary discoverer of America.
The leading feature of my design consists in the figure of a man representing Leif in erect posture and attired in the costume of the period in which he lived, including a horned head-gear. The letter a indicates the said leading feature, the same appearing in connection with the representation of the bow of a boat I), and as if standing in the boat. Above the main figure appears a shield bearing the words and numerals Leif Ericson,
A. D. 1000; but such inscription forms no part of my design. The above-mentioned 0rnamentation appears on the handle of the spoon. On the bowl appears a figure indicated by the letter (Z, and representing a shield and an assemblage of battle-axes, spears, and
