HANDLE FOR SPOONS, &c.
No. 20,692. Patented Apr. 28, 1891.
7W SSE 8 IN VE N TOR M @3156? A TTOHNEYS UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
AUSTIN F.
JACKSON, OF TAUNTON, MASSACHUSETTS, ASSIGNOR TO THE REED & BARTON CORPORATION, OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR A HANDLE FOR SPOONS, 800.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, AUSTIN F. JACKSON, a
citizen of the United States, residing at Taunton, in the county of Bristol and State of Massachusetts, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Handles for Spoons, Forks, Knives, Ladles, &c., of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, formin g part thereof. 7
Figure 1 is a front or top face View of a spoon having my design applied to its handle, and Fig. 2 is a rear or underneath View of the spoon having my design applied to the same.
The design for the front face consists of a marginal bead c, terminating at the end of the handle in double scrolls d and inclosing a smooth panel or escutcheon a near the end of the handle, and a bunch of flowers b and mythological figure b between the said panel an ornamental border consisting of a fanshaped ornament h at the end, inwardly-extended tongues or chutes f near the middle, and a fanciful ornamental scroll 9 near the shank. This scrolled ornament is of arabesque pattern and is spread across the face of the handle at the end of panel 6 and between the latter and the shank.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is 1. The design for the front face of the handle, substantially as shown and described.
2. The design for the rear face or back of the handle, consisting of the plain panel (2, the fan-shaped ornament h at the outer end, the chutes or tongues f, projecting inwardly about the middle, and the'arabesque scrollshaped ornament g, spread across the face of the handle at the end of panel 6 and between the same and the shank, substantially as shown and described.
AUSTIN F. JACKSON.
