DESIGN FOR -A COOKING-STOVE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 20,319, dated November 18, 1890. Application tiled September 2 9, 1890. Serial No. 366,562. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, HENRY CLAY BAscoM and FRANCIS Rirornn, citizens of the United States, residing, the said BAscoM at the village of Lansingburg, county of Rensselaer,
and State of New York, and the said RITCHIE at the city of Troy, in said State 'and county,
have invented and produced a new and origiliated vines havlng scroll terminals inclosing a central shell ornament, the loops inclosing representation of eggs, and the relative arrangement and superficial contour of parts provided with openings, all as hereinafter described and pointed out.
The legs A of the stove are provided at their upper ends with a plain horizontal borr der-band A', a front ornament A2, comprising a series of oblique ribs inclosed by foliated scrolls and side ornaments A, consisting ot a folated scroll, and at their lower ends with a cluster of berries A4, inclosed by foliated rib terminals.
The base B, top B', hearthshelf B2, and Oven-shelf B each have upon their vertical sides or edges convexed surfaces severally decorated by a horizontal row of conventionalized shell ornaments B4, a plain lower horizontal border-band or rib B5, and an upper plain beveled border-band B".
The shelf B3 presents on its upper surface geometrically-gured open-work and is connected with the upper surface ot` the base by the legs B7.
The oven-door C is provided with two simi lar ornaments CJone on the upper and the other on the lower portion of the front surface-consisting of foliated vine-like ribs having scroll terminals and inclosing a central shell ornament and an end figure composed of a group of four small scrolls, two of which are foliated, inclosing a series of short parallel. sigmoidal ribs within the group.
At the middle part of each end portion of the front/surface of the door is an ornament O2, consisting of divergent scrolls inclosing a series ot' short ribs.
The iire-place doorD has on the front of its lower or ash-pit portion a rectangular iigure-` formed by the four right-line ribs D', and centrally of such figure another ligure composed of four loop-and-egg ornaments DZ-one near each corner of the rectangular figureand curved ribs which connect such loop-andegg ornaments and inclose a central foliated scroll D3. The loops are severally parts of the curved ribs and resemble in appearance the tongue of a tongue-and-egg ornament.
On the front of the upper or combustionchamber portion of door D are two mica openings D4, surrounded by a foliated borderrib, with a loop-and-egg ornament D5 at the upper outside corners of the micaopenings, and a foliated scroll ornament D6 at the lower outside corners of such openings. The mica openings are separated by a vertically-elongated ornament composed of a patera in the middle part, a loop-and-egg ornament at the ends, and a conventionalized rib-inclosed shell intermediately of the patera and loop-and-egg ornaments.
The iront door F is provided on the upper portion with four vertically-elongated mica openings F', arranged in a horizontal row, on the lower portion with six vertically-elongated draft-openings F2, arranged in a horizontal row, and intermediately of such rows ol' openings with a horzontallyelongated poke-opening F3, the lower portion of the door having its general front surface convexed with rounded vertical edges, and the upper portion of the door having its general front surface plane with rounded upper and vertical edges.
What we claim as new isl. In a design for a stove, the design for a stove-leg herein shown and described, con- 9 sisting on the upper end-of a plain horizontal border-band, a front ornament comprising a series of oblique ribs inclosed by foliated scrolls, and side ornaments, each composed of a single toliated scroll and on the lower end of a cluster of berries inclosed by foliated rib terminals.

2. In a design for a stove, the design for an ovensshelf herein shown and described, consistin g of geometrically-iigured open-work on the top surface, a row of shell ornaments on the convexed edges of the shelf, and leg-connections between the front edge ofy the shelf and the upper surface of the base.

In a design for a stove, the ornamental design on an oven-door herein shown and described, consisting ot' two similar ornaments, one on the upper and the other on the lower front, consisting of foliated vines having scroll terminals and inclosing a central shell ornament, and an end figure composedcof a group of four small scrolls, foliated, inclosing a series of sigmoidal ribs.

In a design for a stove,l the ornamental design on the ash-pit'section of a side ireplace door herein shown and described, consisting of a rib ornament on the front surface of the door, comprising a rectangular figure inclosing a central gure composed of four 1oop-andegg ornaments, one near each corner of the rectangular figure, and curved ribs which connect such loop-and-egg ornaments and inclose a central foliated scroll.
