DESIGN FOR AN |NKSTANDCOVER.
SPECIFICATION forming' part of Design No. 20,046, dated July 22, 1890.
Application iiled March 26, 1.890. -Sorinl No. 345,457. Term of patent 14 years.
.To all whom, it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN G. LYON, n residentof Pittsburg, in the county of Allegheny and Stale of Pennsylvania, have invented n new and original Design for Inkstnnds; and I do hereby declare the following to be a. full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in Which- Figure l is n side View of the cover, showing the inkstand in dotted lines. Fig. 2 is a. fnee View showing the cover raised slightly and showing the inkstnnd in dotted lines, and Fig. is :L top View of the cover.
Like letters of reference indicate like parts in each.
My design relates to inkstnnd-oovers; and it consists, essentially, in en enlarged bulbous or globous body extending ont beyond the bese and having spiral eorrngations thereon.
In the drawings, the bodye of the inkstand is shown in dotted lines, it having the collar a at lche neck, to which is hinged the circular baseb of the cover, which has s ring b2, the base b being generally smooth. The body secured to the bese b and extending above .the seme, this bulbons or globous body being ol greater diameter than the bese b and extending ont beyond the saine, as shown. On the surface of this bulbous or globous body are the spiral oorrngations or ribs d, which are shown as convex in shape, and which in the glass body impart a handsome appearance to the cover, the spiral oerrngetions on one side of the body giving n series of everehanging lines when seen through the epposite side of the glass body. At the same time the large globons top or @over imparts e inassive effect to the inkstand.
