This invention relates to a design for the handles of spoons, forks, and like articles of table service; and it consists in the ornamentation of the surface of the handle, as hereinafter described, and shown in the accompanying illustration. The body or bowl constitutes no part of the invention, and this is illustrated as broken away. From the body the handle extends in the form of a narrow shank, A, the surface of which is ornamented by a series of diagonal convex ribs extending from side to side. At the termination of the shank, or
where the widening of the handle practically commences, a transverse rib, a, is formed. Above this rib a panel is formed by a narrow margin extending around the edge of the handle, and about midway of the length of this panel an upwardly curved bar, b, extends from the margin at one side to the margin at the opposite side. On the surface of the panel,
below the bar I), is a trace ry of palms and scrollwork. Above the bar I), on the panel, is the representation of a human head with a crownlike ornament that extends to the margin, as shown in the accompanying illustration.
I claim- The design for spoon and fork handle, consisting of the shank A, having its surface ornamented by a series of diagonal convex ribs, with a transverse rib, a, above, and ahandle above the rib, having a narrow border around its edge, forming a panel, and the panel divided by a curved bar, b, the surface of the panel below the bar ornamented with a traccry of palms and scroll-work, and the panel above the bar representing a human head, as described, and shown in the accompanying illustration.
