DESIGN FoR A HANDLE FOR A BRUSH.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 14,331, dated October f?, 1883.

' T0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JARvIs B. EDsoN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Adams, in the county of Berkshire and State of Massachusetts, have invented or produced a new and original Design for Handles for Brushes, Mirrors, Combs, and other Articles, of which the following is al specification.
This design relates to'handles for handmirrors, brushes, combs, and other handles 5 and it consists in constructing the handle oval in cross-sectionvnd with spira1ly-arranged ribs or projections, thus impartingl to the handle a novel, handsome, and attractive appearance.
In the drawings, Figure 1 represents a plan view of a handle made in accordance with my design; Fig. 2, a transverse section of the same on line w w, and Fig. 3 a longitudinal section on the line y y of Fig. l.
Referring to the drawings, the number l designates the body of the handle, and 2 the spirally-arranged ribsv or projections, which eX- tend in a uniform spiral line from the end 3 to the extremity` 4 of the handle. The end 3 is where the handle is to be joined or joins the article to be furnished with a handle, such article being, for example, a hand-mirror, a
tion, 4, of the handle isr bulbous, so that it is larger than the attaching end 3, and the sides and edges of the handle taper in outline from the outer extremity to the attaching end.
By my design a novel, pleasing, and handsome appearance is imparted to handles for hand-mirrors, brushes, combs, and other articles.
Having kthus described my invention, what I claim is 1 The design for a handle herein described and shown, said handle being tapered, as set forth, and oval in cross-section, and having a bulbous outer end portion, and formed with the spiral projections or ribs, which .are conveX in cross-section.
