CAMILLE IlIilXIIAItD'I, OF NEW YORK, N. Y., ASSIGNOR TO VARREN, FULLER CO., Oli SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR A WINDOW-SHADE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 13,283, dated September 5, 1882.
Application filed August 7, ISEE.
To all zrimm lit may concern Be it known that I, CAMILLE REINHAEDT, a citizen of the United States, residing at the city of New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented or designed a new and useful ornamental Design for Window Shades or Curtains, of which the following is a full and clear description, and which will be readily understood by reference tothe accompanying drawing, illustrating the same.
'lhc design consists of a riclilyoriianiented transverse band across the body ot' the curtain, the ornamentation being in the form of foliation. Three straight and distinct trans` verse lines, A, A', and A, divide the field of ornamentation into two sections, B and B'. The lower one of these, B, is quite narrow as compared with the other one, being only about onetenth or one-twellth (more or less) of the Width of the upper and larger tield or section, B'. Ihis lower tield or section, B, is ornaineuted with small sloping ligures ot' branches or leaves tl, C', and C2, which are placed at about equal distances from each other. The figures C are lanccolatcbranches, thetiguresO'areobcor date,7 and the figures U3 are palm-ate." These various iigurcs are arranged to pleasingly alternate each other, and the bottom ends or stems ot' them touch the bottom band, A, from which they slope upward and diagonally at an angle of about forty-tive degrees, and extend toward the middle line, A', until their top ends nearly touch it. The upper field or section ot' ornament B is richly filled with folated iigures, the most prominent of which are the tigures D, showing a large branch with piniiately-eompound leaves, and the fern-like iigures Term of patent 3l years.
E, showing bipinnate leaves. The next prominent figures in the section B are the tig ures F of oblanceolate leaves. One ofthese leaves, or branches ot' them, forms a central ligure in the section B', and one of them terminates the field at either end. The subdivisions ot' the sections B' between the central ori nament, F, and the end figures of the same dcscriptiou each have one of the ornaments I) and one ot' those marked E. Interwoven with the branches ofthe tgures D, E, and F, above described, are branchlets and leaves G ot' obcordate formation, H ot lanceolate forma tion, I of palmate formation, and J of palmately-three-cleft formation, the whole intertwined and intertoliated, so as to lill and enrich the section B'. The spaces left between the stems of the branches of the above-dcscribed leaflets where they join to or start from the base-line A of the section are filled willi grass tufts K, so as to complete the ornamenti tion and tilling of the lower portion of the section B'.
Having described my invention, I claim- The design for a window -eurtain or other similar work, consisting ot' the two transverse tields of ornamentation B and B', formed by the heavy transverse lines A, A', and A2, the lower section, B, being ornamented with the leaflets O, O', and C2, and the upperl section or tield ot' ornament, with the principal figures D, E, and F, and with the sub-figures G, H, I, J, and K, substantially as described.
CAMILLE REINHARDT.
