- UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOHN GLEN, OF BROOKLYN, NEW YORK.
DESIGN FOR A PRINTED FABRIC.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 13,084, dated July 25, 1882.
Application filed June 9, 1882. Term of patent 35 years.
To all 'whom it may concern:
Beit known that I, JOHN GLEN, of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented a new and original Design for Printed Fabrics; and I do hereby declare that the following specification, taken in connection with the accompanying illustration, forming a part of the same, is a full, clear, and exact description thereof.
My design relatesparticularly to printed fabrics known as calicoes,7 although it is equally applicable to silks, woolens, and other fabrics, either printed or woven.
It consists in the representation of leaves and flowers upon their stems, as will hereinafter appear.
Referring to the illustration, A represents a stem bearing leaves B and flowers C and c. I) represents another stem, bearing leaves E and flowers F andf.
Stems bearing leaves and flowers O, with or without the flowers c, may be repeated on the surface of the fabric to form the pattern; or stems bearing leaves and llowers F, with or without the flowers f, may be combined to form the pattern; or stems bearing leaves and llowers C F, respectively, with or without the flowers c andf, may be alternated 'and repeated to form the pattern.
The fabric may be produced in any preferred variety or combination of colors, for giving a desirable effect to the design above described.
What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. The design for printed and other fabrics, consisting ofa stem bearing leaves and a flower, O, substantially as set forth.
2. The design for printed and other fabrics, consisting of a stem bearing leaves and flowers O and c, substantially as set forth.
3. The design for printed and other fabrics, consisting of a stem bearing leaves and a flower, F, substantially as set forth.
4. The design for printed and other fabrics, consisting of a stein bearingleaves and flowers F and f, substantially as set forth.
5. The design for printed and other fabrics, consisting of stems bearing leaves and flowers C and F, respectively, substantially as set forth.
