UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOSEPH K. BROWN, OF BEAVER FALLS, PENNSYLVANIA.
DESIGN FOR GLASSWARE.,
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 13,020, dated July 4, 1882,
Application filed May 15, 1882. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOSEPH K. BROWN, of Beaver Falls, in the county of Beaver and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Design for Glassware; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had totheaccompanyingdrawing, which shows my new design as applied to a bread-plate.
My design consists of the representation of alocomotive-engine and train of carsimpressed into or in relief upon a glass dish.
The effect of the formation of the design in the glass, either above or below the plane upon which it is formed, is that the light passing through the clear glass is refracted by the sides, edges, or lines of the design, and gives it a very beautiful appearance.
I do not limit myself to the application of this design upon bread-plates, but claim it as applied to glass dishes generally, especially those of a flat or shallow shape. I prefer to have an ornamental border extending around the sides of the dish, as at a, but do not limit myself to the particular configuration here illustrated.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for glassware, substantially as described and shown.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand this 1st day of May, A. D. 1882.
JOSEPH K. BROWN.
