DESIGN FOR A GATE.

SPECIFICATION forming' part of Design No. 12,874, dated April 11, 1882.

T o all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, HENRY FALLER,a citizen of' the United States, residing at Middle Village, in the county of Queens and State of New York, have invented a. new and original Design for a Gate, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accoiiipani ing` drawing, forming part thereof.

This invention relates to a new and ornamental design for gates, as fully described in the following specitication, and illustrated in the accompanyii drawing.

1n this drawing the letter A designates the arched top bar, from the -ends ot' which rise the arabesques B B, while its center supports an arahesque, O, composed of leaves a, two scrolls, b b, one on each side of the leaves a a, curved hars c c, which extend from the top of the scrolls, and are oriiamented by heads d,` leaves e e. extending from the outer edges of the sernll-l beneath the curved liars o c, and leaves f f, which extend from the central leaves, a, to the curved hars c c, and thence terminate iii scrolls resting upon the top bar, A. From the bottom edge of the top bar, at or near the center of its length, depend leaves g, from which is suspended a loop, h, and from the 0pposite sides of this loop extend curved bars i l, which terminate in leaves j. From the sides of these curved bars i i extend oriia mental scrolls k k, from the centers of which is suspended a shroud, l. Below the ornamental scrolls k k are leaves mm, and the outer edges of said scrolls and leaves hear against curved hars a n, which extend from top bar, A, down to scrolls o o, and which are ornaiiieiited hy heads p. 'llie scrolls o o rest upon the lower har, D, of the gate, and from them extend leaves q q, which till the spaces between the curved hars n n and the npriglits E E of the gate. The ends ot' the lower har, D, are oriiaineiited hy rosettes t' r, and to the bottom edge of this har are attached a series ofornamental escntcheons, s s.

What I claim as new, and desire to secure hy Letters Patent., is-

l. The new and ornamental design ofthe arched top har, A, of a gate and the ai'abesque U, composed of leai es a, scrolls b b, curved hars c c, and leaves e e ff, as shown and described.

2. The new and ornamental design, consisting of the top liar, A, ot' a gate, the leaves g, depending from the bottom edge of said top bar, the loop h, curved bars t' t, leaves j and m, scrolls k k, and shroud I, as shown and described.
