UNITED STATES PATENT OEEIcE.
AUGUSTUS ll. lll'llSEY, ()l" PITTSBUIIG, PENNSYLVANIA.
DESIGN FOR GLASSWARE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 12,372, dated July 26, 1881.
A plirrition filed Juno I8, 1881. Term of patent? years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, AUGUsTUs H. HEISEY, of Pittsburg, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Designs for Glassware; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, andexactdescription thereof.
My improved design for glass dishes consistsofasquare, rectangular, orotherpolygonal shape, with the corners escurcheoned with frosted shell-patterns and the intermediate portion mainly plain or clear.
To illustrate I have shown this design in the accompanying drawings applied, in Figure 1, to a footed bowl, and in Fig. 2 to a salver.
In Fig. 1, a indicates the frosted or obscured shell-figure on the corners of the square or rectangular bowl, and b the intermediate clear part. The frost-work may be of any known character, the term being used to cover generally an obscured or partially-obscured surface, whether produced by a roughened mold, or by grinding, or by acid.
In Fig. 2, a also indicates the frosted shellfigures on the corners of the rectangular salver, and b the clear part.
Between the shells a small ornamental figures, such as the lambrequins 0, may be made, and, if desired, a central figure of appropriate design may be made at d. The design is car- 0 ried out in foot and stem by shells a, clear intermediate space b, and ornaments c.
This design is applicable to other-articles of glassware besides those shown, and is handsome in appearance.
What 1 claim as my new and useful design for glassware is- The polygonal shape with the corners escutcheoned with frosted shell-patterns and intermediate clear portion, substantially as de- 40 scribed and shown.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand.
AUGUSTUS H. HEISEY.
