Be it known that I JOHN NEIL, of New York, in the county and State of New York, have invented a new and original Design for Carpets, of which the following is a specificatiou.
This invention relates to a new and original design for carpets and similar fabrics; and it consists in the novel grouping and configuration of figures hereinafter more fully described.
The accompanying photograph illustrates a face view of a carpet having my new design.
The group A is the central group of the design, and has running through and occupying its center a figure, a, which consists of featherlikefigures resemblingpeacockfeathersbranch; iug out from a base of curving leaves. Sur rounding this central figure, and defining the group, is a border, one portion of which consists of the curving leafy branch b, the other portions consisting of patterned stripes.
The group B, of which one portion appears at the top and another at the bottom of the photograph, contains a curving branch-like figure, b, with Ieaf-like projections upon it. This figure b is a continuation of and part of the branch I), bordering the figure A. The group B also contains another branch-like figure, d, somewhat similar to b, and which pro- 0 jects into the group B from the group D, and
is a continuation of and part of the branch (1 of the group D. These two branches d and b occupy the center of the group B, whose outline is marked bya stripe inclosing the figures d and b.
The group G contains a peacocks feather, similar to that shown in the figure a, and also a curving leafy branch, h, which projects into the group. One portion of this group (J is found toward the top of the photograph, and another at the bottom, and its outline is marked by aportion of the branch b and by a patterned border.
The group D contains a portion of theleafy branch d, which projects out from it and into the group B, as already described, and is herdered by a patterned stripe. The group E consists of the rectangular figures e fg, having upon them different ornamental patterns.
