DESIGN FOR A SCARF-PIN.
Specification forming part of Design No. 11,471, dated October 21, 1879; application filed June 30, 1879.

Be it known that I, WILLIAM A. BEATTY, of Pawtucket, in the county of Providence and State of Rhode Island, have originated a new Design for Articles of Jewelry, of which the following is a specification.
My said design relates to an improved form and a new ornamentation of ear-drops, pins buttons, and other articles of jewelry; and it consists of a central ornament surrounded by a simple wreathof individual leaves having curved stems and overlapping ends.
The accompanying drawing of my said design is hereby made part of this specification, similar letters of reference thereon indicating corresponding parts.
a represents the outer wreath aforesaid, and b shows the inside stone or other article of ornament projecting through the inner circle of said wreath. c is the pin-tongue, the drawing illustrating my said design as applied to a scarf-pin.
The outer wreath aforesaid is formed of overlapping leaves having curved stems, as shown in the drawing, and may be made ofthe various metals and substances used in jewelry-manufacture for similar purposes.
The said inner ornament or stone projecting through the inner circle of the wreath may be so out orformed as to resemble an opening rosebud, as shown in the drawing, or may be worked into other forms and made to resemble other flowers than those above named.
The Teath A is a simple circle of individ ual leaves, the ends of which slightly overlap, and the stems of which spring from an under ring nearly of the same size as the wreath. In the center of this ring is the baseplate, to which is fastened the interior ornament aforesaid.
I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The design for a scart pin, veil-pin, and similar article of jewelry, consisting of a central ornament surrounded by a simple wreath of individual leaves having curved stems and overlapping ends, substantially as shown in the accompanying illustration.
