Description

BEST AVAELAESL'zi A".
Towel-homer.
Patented A ug. 5,1879,
INYENM BEBE? f A MW 4% UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
THEODORE MINER, OF BROOKLYN, NEW YORK.
DESIGN FOR TOWEL-HOLDER.
Specification forming part of Design No. 11,315, dated August 5, 1879; application filed June 17, 1879.
[Term of patent 31} years] To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known thatI, THEODORE MINER, of the city of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have originated and designed a Pattern for a Towel-Holder, of which the following is afull and clear description, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, making a part of this specification.
This invention has for its object the ornamental construction of a small metallic holder for securing a towel or other similar article in such a position that it may be conveniently used, but not surreptitiously removed from its proper position or lost.
The holder itself consists of a metallic plate, A, perforated at one end for the reception of the eye-screw B, by means of which it is secured in position, and provided with a slot, to, at its other end for the reception of the towel or napkin which is to be attached to it, a setscrew, O, being threaded into the top arm, a, which forms one side of the slot a, and arranged to screw down upon the lower arm, a so as to hold the towel or napkin between the lower end of the set-screw and the arm (1?, a broad foot being used on the bottom of the set-screw, so as not to injure the fabric of the towel or napkin.
The plate A is elongated in form, both ends terminating in semicircles, and the front one forming the lower arm, a that constitutes the bottom part of the slot at. The rear end of the plate A is made j ust large enough for the perforation for the screw B to leave sufficient metal at its sides to afford the requisite strength of material, while the radius of the curve on the front or slotted end will be about double that of the radius on the perforated end, and these two rounded ends will be connected together by concave sides a drawn tangent to the twc end curves, so as to give to the general plan of the plate A a symmetrical and appropriate contour.
The lip or arm a which forms the top part of the slot a, will be bracketed to the top of the plate A by the symmetrically-curved arm a and the top face of the lip or arm a will be enriched with foliation or corrugations a covering its entire top face with the exception of the annular row of raised or hemispherical ornamentation c that surrounds the perimeter of the ornamented field a The annular row of ornamentation a will be concentric with and close to the outer edge of the lip or arm a. The top end of the screw 0 will terminate in a foliated thumb-piece, c, by means of which the screw may be turned.
Having described my invention, I claim The towel or napkin holder A, having its outer semicircular arm, (t ornamented with foliations or corrugations c and the surrounding hemispherical ornamentation a and the screw 0, having the foliated ornament c on its top face, substantially as described and set forth.
THEODORE MINER.
