Description
linited gitarist "aient @Mitte Letters Patent No. 97,258, dated November 23, 1869.
IMPROVEMN T IN. CURRY-COMBS.
The Schedule rferred to in these Leners Patent and making part of the same.
To all whom Ait may concern.: f
Be it known that I, J UDSN E. YAGER, of Barboursville, in the county of Orange, and State ofVirginia, have invented a new and improved Curry-Comb; and I' do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same', reference being had to the aceompanyingdrawings, making a part of this specification, in which-- Figure 1 is a sectin through line a' I ot' tig. 2.
Figure 2 is a front or face view.
The object of this invention is to construct a currycomb in such a manner that when it gets out of order from any cause, it can be easily taken apart andl adjusted or repaired. To this end, l
My improved curry-comb consistsof a series of independent double plates, serrated or toothed, and confined on ahandle by means of a screw-nut, a shoulder, and blocks interposedbetween the plates, as hereinafter described.
In the drawings- A is the handle, havin g a shoulder, a, a screw-thread, a, and between the shoulder and screw-thread being atted, as seen at m m.
BB B are bent or doubled metallic plates, serrated or toothedalong their edges, and arranged on thedat part m of the handle, with blocks C C between them,
to keep them the proper distance apart.
A rodor double arm, D, is placed on the handle outside of the outer plate, its ends projecting slightly beyond the lateral edges of the curry-comb, so that in rapping the instrument against anything, to shake oft the dirt from it, the ends of plates B B will 'not be battered up; and .Eis a nut, screwing on to the stema', and serving to clamp the parts D, C (i, B B, firmly upon the part A.
A wooden handle may be confined upon the part A, between the enlarged vpart aand a screw-nut, n, for convenience in grasping and holding the instrument.
When any ot' the plates get out of order, they can be readily removed aud-new ones substituted.
` Having thus described my invention,
What I claim as new, and vdesire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
'lhe curry-comb, consist-ing of the handle 'A run ning through the plates and blocks, the bent plates B B, serrated, .and provided with sockets for the re ception ot' vthe handle, the blocks C G, arm D, and screw-nut E, the whole constructed and arranged substantially as described.
