RECEPTACLE-COVEB.
To all whom it may concern;
3e it known that I, Bmrrrra F. KRAMER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Louisville, in the county of Jefferson and State of Kentucky, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Receptacle- Covers; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates to new and'useful improvements in covers for steamers and other receptacles and comprises essentially a hood adapted to be connected to a movable, perforated slide and so arranged that the handle may be utilized as a means for moving the slide to close or open the apparatus.
The invention comprises various details of construction and combinations and arrangements of parts which will be hereinafter fully described and then specifically defined in the appended claim.
My invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a side elevation of my invention. Fig. 2 is a bottom plan view showing a perforated slide positioned to close perforations in the cover. Fig. 3 is a similar view showing the apertures in the slide and cover in registration. Fig. at is a vertical sectional view through the cover showing the parts positioned as in Fig. 3, and Fig. 5 is a similar view through the cover showing the parts positioned as in Fig. 2.
Reference now being had to the details of the drawings by letter, A designates a Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed February 23, 1910.
Patented Sept. 27, 1910.
Serial No. 545,381.
cover of the usual construction having a flange B and a handle C. Said cover is provided with a series of perforations I) through which steam is allowed to escape after the perforations are uncovered. A slide, designated by letter E and perforated, is provided for closing the perforations in the hood or opening the same as it is moved back and forth. A hood, designated by let ter F and preferably of the shape shown in the drawings, is movable over the inclined surface of the cover and is provided with screws K fastened thereto and extending through elongated slots N formed in the top and the other ends of said screws are fastened to the slide. A handle 0 is fastened to said hood and forms means whereby the hood may be moved back and forth when it is desired to open or close the perforations in the top.
hat I claim to be new is In combination with a tapering cover having perforations therein, a hood having its inner edge movable in contact with and conforming to the taper of the hood, a curved perforated slide movable against the inner face of the perforated portion of the cover, means for fastening said hood and slide to move in unison whereby the perforations of the hood and slide may be moved into or out of registration by the manipulation of the hood.
In testimony whereof I hereunto affixed my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
BERTHA F. KRAMER.
IVitnesses W'. O. BELCI-IER, IRVINGTON EARL.
