Figure 1, of the drawings, is a representation of a front elevation of my invention applied to a door.
Figure? is a bottom view of the escalloped segment.
Figure 3 is a-seotional view, showing Inode of operating the spring-wheel.
v My invention relates to a means for preventing doors,
shutters, 8vo., from slamming; and consists, mainly, in the construction and -novel'arrangement ofdevices,
whereby this object is satisfactorily accomplished.
The letter A, of the drawings, designates an ordinary door.
B is the archit-rave, to which is secured the semicircular segment C, made of w'ood or othersuitable material.
The under surface of the segment O is escalloped,
in such a manner as to form curved recesses, c' c', int'o which the springwvheel D is forced by the action of the spring d', thereby retarding the motion of the door, Or stopping itat any desired point.
The wheel D is pivoted between the jaws of afvertical rod, e', which slides in the recess e, formed in the case E,',which is secured to the door by three screws, o a.' a, and a staple, b.
A shoulder is formed onthe lower end of the rod e, as a bearing, against which the end of the spring d operates.
This device may be fixed at the top or bottom of a door, and is rather ornamental than otherwise.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters lPatent, isi The door-arrester herein described, having escalloped segment C and spring-wheel D, constructed and arranged to Operate substantially as specified.
