CARL v. BLoMsKoG, or's'EATTLE, WASHINGTON,- AssIGNoR oF ONE-HALF lTo BYRON romans, or SEATTLE, WASHINGTON.
STOVE-OVEN.
Application led January 13, 1910. Serial No. 537,833.
To all whom it may concermA Be it known that I, CARL V. BLoMsKoG, a citizen of the United States, residing at Seattle, in the county of King and State `of Washington, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Stove-Ovens, of'
which the followingv is a specification.
This invention relates to bake-ovens; and its object is the provision of inexpensive and eliicient devices whereby articles being cooked may be conveniently withdrawn. or partially withdrawn from the. oven'for inspection, basting, etc.
The invention consists'inthe novel construction of an oven-shelf, the manner of connecting the same to the oven-walls and the devices whereby the shelf is readily moved -from or restored to its operative position Within the oven, all substantially as hereinafter described and claimed.V
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a longitudinal vertical section taken through a stove oven With my invention applied thereto. Fig. 2 is a horizontal section of the same. Fig. 3 is a. section taken through 3-3 of Fig. 2; Fig. 4 is a perspective view of the shelf member shown detached. Fig. 5 is a like View of thehandle attachment.
`The reference numerals 10 designate the side walls of an oven 11 which is )rovided' with a door 12. Asillustrated, the door is hinged from its lower edge for 'swingingY downwardly in opening. Rigidly secured to the oven-walls, as by stove bolts 13, are
horizontally arranged bars 14 which are each provided with a longitudinal groove 15 extending their entire lengths. These grooves accommodate the lian es 16 provided upon the lateral e'dges 0% a plate 17 which constitute a shelf for the oven. ySaid flanges are offset with respect to the central, or main, portion of such shelf and are preferably formedof horizontally disposed `Webs of angle-.bars 18 whose other webs'19 are directed downwardly for connection with the inner faces of juxtaposed upturned portions 20 of the plate 17. To render the connection more rigid and afford requisite stift'-l ness to the shelf of relatively'thln plates, a supplemental bar 2l is placed against the outer face of each of the plate portions 20; and the three thicknesses of material at each side of the shelf are united by rivets 22. 'Additional strength is afforded to the plate 17 to resist any tendency toy deflection from a superposed weight by ya transverse strip v23` secured to the plate and located, by preference, adjacent,..to the rear edge of the latter. Secured to, or made integral with said strip is an arm 24 which extends upwardly to a bend 25 and thence forwardly, as at 26. Pivotally connected by a pin 27 to the arm-part 26 is the end of a rod 28 whose other end is bent to provide a stud 29 extending at right angles, or approximately so, from the longitudinal axis of the rod. 30 is a handle element provided with a socket 31 with an angular slot 32 in its peripheral wall for respectively receiving the end of said rod and making abayonet joint connection by the proper interfitting of its stud 29 with the slot 32 of the h and le.
Provided uponlthe bars 14 and below the 'respective grooves 15 thereof are rolls 33, ,and in proximity to the. forward ends of each of these bars and above the slots is a roll 34. Said rolls are mounted for rotation upon pin-supports 35 secured in the respeci tive bars and to which end the latter are provided with apertured lugs 36 to receive the various pin-supports. The rolls 33 are positioned to extend slightly above the bottom of the bar-grooves 15 to overcome unnecessary friction in the movements of the shelf. As the shelf projects from the oven,
'it is supported by engagement with the rolls the shelf occupies the position shown in.
Figs. 1 and 2, the rod may be swung to one side as indicated by broken lines a in Fig. 2.
When the shelf is` returned to itsplace within the oven the handle 30 should be detached so that it will not become unbearably hot for use by the operator.
The invention is extremely simple and may be readily applied to stoves or ranges, i
already in use. A
What I claim as my invention, is:
1.` The combination with a stove-oven, of grooved bars rigidly secured to the side walls thereof, a shelf provided with lateral flanges which extend `into the grooves of the respective bars, said shelf being formed W'tfh its central ,portion in a lower plane than the; plane of said an'ges, a transverselyerranged J strip Asecured toy said vshelf and provided With other end of ysaid rod.
2. The combination with a stove "oven, 'of grooved 'bars rigidly secured to the side Walls i thereof, a shelf provided with lajteral flanges which extend into the rooves of the respective bars, a transverse y arranged strip se' cured to said lshelf and provided with an up- Wardly extending arm, a rod pivotally connected at one of its ends to said arm so as to 'be swung out of the Way when the shelf is protruded from the Aoven,` and a handle adapted to be detachably connected to the other end of said rod.
