Be it known that I, TAKEBI Hasu, a citizen of Japan, residing at San Francisco, in the county of San Francisco and State of California, have invented new and useful Improvements in Clothesl/Ioistening Devices, of which the following is a specification.

The objectof the present invention is to provide sanitary means for moistening clothes in laundries. The method of moistening the clothes by sprinkling water over them with the hand is unsatisfactory, because of the irregular distribution of the water. Devices have been used. for spraying or sprinkling the water over the clothes by blowing with the mouth, but this is objectionable for sanitary reasons.

The object of the present invention is to provide a device by which the water can, in a sanitary manner, he sprinkled evenly and without too much moisture over the clothes.

In the accompanying drawing, Figure l is a side view of the device; Fig. 2 is a longitudinal vertical section thereof; Fig. 3 is a section on line 3 3 of Fig. 2, omitting the absorbent material.

The rib S is raised at the center, as shown at 9, and, pinned to said central raised portion, as shown at 10, is the foot of a stem or handle 11. The upper end of said stem is formed with a conduit 12 leading from the top to a point in the side. In the upper end of the stem is screwed a plug 1% which can be screwed down to close Specification of Letters Patent.

the upper end of the conduit 12. Fitting closely around the back of the brush is the lower or wide mouth of a rubber receptacle 15, secured at the bottom by a band 17. Said receptacle is formed at the top with a c011- tracted neck 16 to fit closely around and in the groove 13 on the stem.

The mode of use of the device is as follows. The screw plug is unscrewed. Water is then poured down through the sleeve and fills the rubber receptacle, and the plug is then screwed in again. The water passes into the space between the frame and the back of the brush, thoroughly saturating the absorbent material 7. The water escapes through the holes in the back and moistens the bristles or hairs of the brush. As this moisture is taken up by the clothes, the operator squeezes the rubber ball or receptacle 15, thus forcing more water through the holes in the back of the brush, and maintaining the brush moist.

I claim A device of the character described having a back and tufts of bristles secured therc to, said back having perforations between the points of attachment of the tufts, absorbent material covering said back over said perforations, a stem secured to said back and extending at right angles therefrom, a rubber receptacle having a wide mouth secured around the edge of the back, and having a comparatively narrow aperture through which said stem is passed, said stem having a conduit leading from the outside to the inside of said receptacle, and a plug screwed in the end of said stem to close said conduit, substantially as described.
