ISEDORE FLIEGLER, OF BROOKLYN, NEW] YORK.
CLEANING-HEAD FOR WHISK-BROOMES.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Isnnorne FLincLnn, a citizen of the. United States, residing at Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Cleaning-Head for \VhislcBrooms, of which the following-is a specification.
This invention relates to heads for whisk brooms and one of its objects is to provide a hollow head having a tubular extensiomsaid head. and extension constituting a receptacle tor a cleansing fluid adapted to be applied t o a garment for the purpose of removing stains and the like therefrom.
A further object is to provide a novel form of dauber by means of which the cleansing fluid may be applied to a fabric or the like, said'dauber being so constructed as to loosen the nap or the fabric and at the same time apply the fluid thereto.
Another object is to provide a dauber which can be readily detached, there being means for concealing and protecting the 'dauber when not inuse.
ferred form of the invention has been shown.
With the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being. understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed can be made withinthe scope of what is claimed without departing from the spirit of the invention.
In the accompanying drawings, the prebroom, these being secured within the end portion of a hollow broom head 2 formed of metal or other material which will retain moisture, the said head having a partition 3 therein forming the bottom of a compartment 4. The bristles may be secured within the head in any suitable manner, as by means of set screws 5 orthe like.
The head 2 has a tubular extension. 6 the Specification of Letters Patent.

free end of which. is provided with a' threaded opening 7 adapted to be engaged by 'a threaded nipple 8 formed at the center of a socket member 9, said nipple having passages 10 therethrough opening into the Arranged within the socket is a dauber cons' ting of a strip of flannel, felt, or other suitable absorbent material, such. as has been indicated at 11, and another strip of fabric having coarse hairs woven thereinto and projecti: r therebeyond, this hair fabric being illi. 12. The two strips are wound abou mon center so as to form a come: t made up of alternate lay material and projecting hairs or .tles. This dauber projects beyond the socketmember 9 and is normally concealed by a screw cap 13 engaging the reduced threaded end 14 of the socket member 9 and preferably provided with a ring 15 whereby the whisk broom can be readily suspended from a hook or the like.
It is to be understood that any suitable cleansing fluid may be poured into the coinpartment 4 by unscrewing the socket men's her 9 from the tubular extension 6 and pour ing the liquid through the opening 7. The
socket member can then be attached to the tubular extension 6 and the device is ready for use. The bristles 1 can be used in the ordinary manner for brushing clothes and the like and, when it is desired to remove a stain from a fabric, the cap 13 is unscrewed from the socket member 9 and the whisk broom is inverted so as to bring the dauber lowermost. By rubbing the dauher over the fflbllt, the bristles 12 will loosen the nap and, at the same time, a portion of the cleansing fluid will flow through the open ings 10 and be absorbed by the strip ll which, in turn, will apply it to the fabric.
It will be noted that the socket member 9. and the cap 13 are ofthe same external diameter as the extension 6 and therefore cooperate with said extension to form an ellicient handle.
What is claimed is:-
The combination with a receptacle con stituting whisk broom head, and a tubular extension integral with the receptacle said extension having a reduced outlet opening in its free end, the wall of which is screw threaded, of a sachet member of the same external. diameter is the tubular extension and having a threaded nipple extending ire from one end and adapted to engage the bular extension and cooperating with said threaded Wall of the opening in the tubular socket member and" extension to form a.
. extension, there being spaced openings exhandle, and means upon the end of the cap 15 tending through the nipple from'the infor engaging a supporting structure.
