CHARLES W. FRIEDMAN AND LOUIS A. FRIEDMAN, OF CANTON, OHIO.
CURTAIN-FIXTURE.
Application filed March 15, 1909.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, CHARLES IV. Finan- MAN and LOUIS' A. FRIEDMAN, both citizens of the United States, residing at Canton, in the county of Stark and State of Ohio, have jointly invented certain new and useful Improvements in Curtain-Fixtures; and we do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, making a part of this specification, and to the numerals of reference marked thereon, in which- Figure l is a perspective view showing portions of a shade roller and curtain pole and illustrating one of the brackets placed in proper position. Fig. 2 is a horizontal sectionv of the window frame and sash taken on a line above the point at which the bracket is attached. Fig. 3 is a View showing the spring end of the shade roller bearing and the shade roller. Fig. 4 is a view taken on line H, Fig. 3. Fig. 5 is a perspective view showing the upper end of the post and the curtain pole supporting wire connected thereto.
The present invention has relation to curtain fixtures and it consists in the novel arrangement hereinafter described and particularly pointed out in the claims.
Similar numerals of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures of the drawing.
In the accompanying drawing, 1 represents an ordinary frame and 2 a window sash. To the jamb of the window frame proper is attached the plate 3, which plate is provided with the slotted head 4, which slotted head is provided with the integral upright post 5, which post is provided with the hooked upper end designed to be clamped upon the curtain pole holding` wire or arm 6. In the manufacture of our improved curtain fixture it is desirable to form the plate 3 together with the slotted head 4, and the post 5 of a single piece and preferably of malleable iron. It s also desirable to form the curtain pole holding wire or arm 6 of common wire bent to hold in proper position the curtain pole.
In order to provide for attaching the wire 6 to the post 5 without laying the wire in the mold the hooked upper end is provided, which can be bent so as to bind the hooked or curved portion 7 snugly down and upon the wire 6. The slotted head l is for the purpose Specification of Letters Patent.

l of receiving and holding' the bar 8 upon which bar is adjustably mounted the shade roller bearing 9, said shade roller bearing being held in fixed adjustment by means of the suitable set screw lO, the bar S is held by means of the set screw 11.
It will be understood thatv the opposite side of the window frame isl to be provided with duplicate devices just above described, except that the shade roller bearing 12 should be provided with an angled aperture l?) designed to hold the angled bar 14, which angled bar is such as commonly used in shade rollers of the spring type.
It is of'importance that during the time the shade is wound upon and unwound from the shade roller 15, and especially during the time the shade is wound upon the roller, that there be no binding of the shade as between the ends of the shade and the inner faces of the shade roller bearings, and in order to prevent any binding, the inner faces of the shade roller bearings l0 and 12 are beveled as illustrated in Fig. il, which beveled faces permit a slight variance at the ends of the shade and in a sense provide room for the shifting, caused by any uneven winding of the shade upon its roller.
In attaching the bracket proper to the jambs of the window frames it is of importance that some adjustable means be provided for the curtain pole carrying arms or wires 6. In some instances it may be desirable to setI the wire at an angle as illustrated in Fig. 2 and in order to provide for this adw justment without any increased expense in the manufacture, the post- 5 together with the slotted head 4 and the plate 3 are formed integral and of malleable iron, so that the post- 5 can be twisted axially to a limited extent sutliciently to jn'ovide the necessary lateral adjustment for the curtain pole brackets (S. This feature is of importance, owing to the fact that no parts are necessary to be coupled in order to provide for the adjustment.
Having fully described our invention what we claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
l. In a. device of the character described, a plate provided with a slotted head and a post, a bar located through the slotted head, a shade roller bearing adjustably attached to the bar carried by the slotted head, said shade roller bearing provided with a beveled face and a curtain pole carrying arm secured holding` the har and the shade roller hearing l to the post, Substantially aS and for the purl in fixed adjustment, Substantially as and for pose specified. the purpose specified.
2. In a device of the Character' described, l ln testimony that We claim the above, We a plate provided with a Slotted head and a have hereunto subscribed our names in the 1.5 post, the post formed of material adapted presence of two Witnesses.
