SUBPENDERS.
Sp'eeieation of Letters Relient.
Patented July 20, 1909.
Application Bled Kay 22, 1908. Serial No. 434,387.
i To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JosEri-I Wars, a citizen of the United States, residing at Port Clinton, in the .county of Ottawa and State of Ohio, haveinvented certain new and useful Im ronements in Suspenders, of which the follldw'in'g is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying draw- This invention relates particularly to the tabs of Suspenders. Provision is inade for tabs to connect with the trousers and tabs to connect with the drawers.
The invention contemplates a novel formation of tabs for this` purpose; and it hasin view a supporter es ecially adapted for wear bystout or corpu ent persons.
When read in connection with the description herein, the details of the invention will be ap arent from the accompanying drawings, ormin part hereof, wherein an embodiment of t e invention is disclosed, for purposes of illustration.
Like reference-characters refer to correponding parts in the several views of the Figure 1 is a view of the outside of the front or side tabs; Fi 2 is a View of the inner side thereof; am Fig. 3 is a side view there f.
Reierring more particularly to the drawings, 7 designates a loop at nach front end of the main strap of the suspender-s. (lne end of the loop is secured by a detachable fastener S, or in any other suitable manner, so that the loop can bc readily opened. At the bend of the loop is an opening i).
Depending from loop 7 iii'c outer tabslil' and l1, for connection willi ille trousers,
and an intermediate lidi l2, for connection with the drawers. 'l`iilis 'Hi and ll eiii'ili consist of a biiitoiiliole portion iii iiiid ii sustaining portion 14, the latter portion of each of these tabs being assed through ythe fold of loop 7 and down t ough the opening 9,A below which o ening they meet and are joined to form ta 12. The sustaining portion of one of tabs 10 and 11, for instance that of tab 10, is extended downwardly below opening 9 farther thandth'e sustaining portion of the other and a buttonhole' iece I5 is formed on this ehd. The material of the sustaining portion of tab 11 is sewed or otherwise suite lv secured to that of tab 10 above the buttonhole of biittonhole piece 15. By this ari-an ement the strain between the trousers and t ie drawers is equalized.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-v 1. Suspenders having'a loop with anv opening therein, and a tab passed from each side into the loop and down through the opening,
the outer ends of the tabs having means for attachment to a garment, and the inner end of one of 'the tabs having means for attachment to a garment and having the inner end of the other tab attached thereto.
2. Suspenders having a loop with an openingr therein, and a tab passed from each side into the loop and down through the opening, the outer ends of the tabs .having means thereon for attachment to a garment, one of the labs being extended downwardly below the opening farther than the other tab and having on its eiid means for attachment to a garnicht, and the other tab being atiiiliid thereto.
lii testimony whereof I aix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
