Description

M. C. LONGLB.
DQUBLE ooLLAR. AP'PLIOKLTIOF FILED APB. 13, 1908.
Patented Dec, 15,1908.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
MAURICE CHARLES LONCLE, OF PARIS, FRANCE, ASSIGNOR TO THE SOCIT LONCLE FRERES, OF PARIS, FRANCE, A CORPORATION OF FRANCE.
DOUBLE COLLAR.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Dec. 15, 1908.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MAURICE CHARLES LoNcLn, citizen of the French Republic, residing at Paris, Department of the Seine, in France, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Double Collars, of which the following is a specification.
This invention has for its object to provide im roved double collars, whereby the diilicu ty of buttoning, and the crumpling of such collars in buttoning, are obviated.
Generally in double collars one of the ends is extended to form a flap which has one of the button holes made in it and has to be inserted between the two parts of the opposite end of the collar and it is usually very diflie cult to button the collar at the end having this flap and the collar is crumpled in buttoning it. In a double collar made in accordance with this invention, the flap, can be in* ser-ted in position, independently of the part having a button-hole in it, and the buttoning is easily effected.
In the drawing- Figure 1 illustrates a perspective `View of a collar shown open and embodying the features of the invention. Fig. 2 is a similar view showing the collar closed. Fig. 3 is a similar view of the collar shown open and embodying a modification.
According to this invention, the end of the collar having the flap i to be inserted between the parts 3 and 4 of the opposite end of the collar is not provided with a buttonhole, in the flap itself but the button-hole 2 is made in a small tab, which can be mani ulated independently of the flap, and is pre erably of more flexible material, so that the flap l can be inserted between the parts 3 and 4 of the opposite end of the collar before buttoning the llap end and the aforesaid disadvantages are overcome. The said tab 2 can be sewn to the collar, or it may originally be part of the flap and be formed by making a cut in the flap in which case the general shape of the flap need not be altered, as is the case in Fig. 3. The flap can be about as high as the collar, as in ordinary double collars. The necessary cut in 5 can be made in any suitable manner, such as by a suitably shaped cutting tool operated by hand or by a cutting press and the edges of the said cut are stitched so as to prevent fraying and tearing of the material. The button-hole is in either case formed in a tab capable of movement independently of the flap in buttoning and unbuttoning, and the ilap can be inserted under the outer turned down part of the collar and not be interfered with in fastening the collar. The flap can, if desired, be made longer than in ordinary double collars and thus insure a better closing of the collar.
Having thus described and ascertained the nature of my invention and in what manner the same may be performed, I declare that what I claim is:
l. As an improved article of manufacture, a collar with an outer turned over portion and an inner closing flap continuous with the neck band portion provided with a button hole tab movable independently of the flap whereby the flap may be placed in position without rumpling it before buttoning the collar.
2. As an improved article of manufacture, a collar having outer turned down portions and the usual inner overlapping flaps con tinuous with the neck band portions, the one Hap being longer than the other and insertible between opposing portions of the collar, the longer flap having a button hole tab at its lower portion independently movable with relation thereto.
3. As an improved article of manufacture, a collar having outer turned down portions and the usual inner overlapping flaps, the one flap being formed with a button hole and the other longer than that having the button hole therein and insertible between opposing portions of the collar including the button hole flap, the said longer flap having a lower button hole tab movable independently thereof and located at a distance inwardly from the free end of said longer flap.
4. As an improved article of manufacture, a collar having outer turned down portions and inner interfltting flaps, the one llap being longer than the other and insertible between adjacent o posing portions of the collar at the front, t e longer flap having a button hole ilap cut therefrom and movable in de pendently With relation thereto.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
MAURICE CHARLES LONCLE.
