No. 9o1,4o2.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Oct. 20, 1908.
Application filed November 4, 1901. Serial No. 400,540.
To all whom it may concern.
Be it known that I, WALTHER KUNDE, a subject of the German Emperor, residing at Dresden, in Germany, have invented a certain new and useful Holder for Writ and Similar Instruments or Tools, of whic the following is a specification.
This invention relates to an improved flexible attachment for writing and similar instruments adapted to be suitably fixed where required for instance on or ad acent a telephone-desk, shop-cash-desk or counter, type-writing machine table, or writin -table, etc. Instead of a pencil there Ina e suspended on the attachment any ot er office article of use, such as indie-rubber, sealing wax, color-pencil, etc., or it may accommodate tools or the like which may be required a}; the place or point where the work is taking p ace.
The improved attachment is represented in elevation in the accompanying dra f is a vertically socketed foot ieee. n the foot f is inserted the helic y wound stem which may be formed of metal wire and has the coils 1 ing closely together for the greater part 0 its length but as to the remainder of its length spaced apart to its upper end, this upper part is also curved in general direction so that the pencil or other object han s freely awa from the attachment. A cord, 0 ain or the e k passes through the coils and extends through a ca h and to said cord is suspended the pencil or other desired object.
What I claim as my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is:
A holder for writing instruments and other objects com rising in combination a vertically sockete foot piece, a helically wound upright projectin vertically above said foot piece and forme with closely lying convolutions for the greater part of its length and more widely spaced convolutions for the remainder, the latter part being also curved away from the perpendicular, and a flexible member traversm said u right and extending beyond the en thereo for attachment of the article thereto.
In witness whereof I have signed this specification in the presence of two witnesses.
WALTHER KUNDE.
