UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
OWEN K. HARRY, OF ST. Louis, inssoURI.
STORAGE-RECEPTACLE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Oct. e, 1908.
Application filed November 2, 1906. Serial No. 341,790.
T0 all whom 'it may concern:
Be it known that I, ()w'nN K. HARRY, a citizen of the United States of An'ierica, re-- siding atthe city of St. Louis, in the State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Stora e-Receptacles, of which the following is a fill], clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part of this specification.
My invention relates to a receptacle de-' signed for use as a container for ashes or 0t er substances and it has for its object to provide-a stora e receptacle consisting of a plurality of she ls ofeorru ated sheet metal and a concrete wall located tween said corrugated sheet metal shells, thereby rendering rability the receptacle one of great stren th and (hiand one that is thorough y sanitary.
rspective view of my recept-acle. Fig. II is an enlarged vertical section taken through the receptacle. Fig. III is a vertical sect1on of the lower part of ptacle illustrating a modification.
Figure I is a the rece Fig. IV 13 a vertical section of the lower part of the receptacle illustrating another modification.
1 designates the inner shell of my receptacle which is produced of a sheet or sheets of corrugated metal and in which the corru- 'gations extend horizontally.
2 is the outer shell of the receptacle which is of corrugated sheet metal and may consist of one or more sheets, and in which the corrugations extend horizontally. The ends of the sheet of metal from which the outer shell is produced are brought together inoverlapping positions andsecurcd together by a row of rivets 3. At the top and bottom of the outer shell and fitting over the topmost and lowermost corrugations thereof are reinforcing bands 4 of channel shape. the ends of which are brou 'ht togcthcr adjacent to the united on s of t 1e sheet metal outer rhcll and rigidly a tachcd to said shell by clips 5 of channel shape that fit over said reinforcing bands.
6 designates a filler wall consisting of concrete which is introduced in a plastic condition into the s ace bclwccu the inner aml outer shells of t in rcccplaclc and which may he of any desircd thickness that will cause fluid filler wall to all'ord' a dcsircd dcgrcc of rigidity and strcngth in lhc i.'cm.-.pl:u-lc.
-- removed from the The receptacle asshown in FigsI and II position in which they have been confined in the receptacle, they may be rendered readily accessible by either lifting the receptacle or overturning it without the irksome task of removing the contents from the interiorof the receptacle.
.In the modification illustrated in Fig. III, I have shown the rece tacle provided with a. sheet metal bottom'7 t; iat is connected to the inner shell 1 b avseam joint 8.
In the inodili atiouillustrated in Fig. IV,
Iha-ve shown the receptacle provided bottom that consists of 'a bed 7' of concrete on which the; receptacle rests and bet-ween which and the concrete filler wall of the receptacle thereis preferably adhesion that is occasioned in theJ laying of the two concrete parts one .upon the other. I have shown my receptacle as of rectangular form, but it is obvious that without departing from my invention the receptacle may be of any other shape such as'round or oval.
I claim 1. A- storage receptacle consisting of inner and outer corrugated sheet metal shells, spaced apart and providing an open top and in which the corrugations extend horizontally, and a filler wall of concrete located between said shells, and securing the shells together, substantially as set forth.
- 2. A storage receptacle consisting of inner and outer corrugated sheet metal shells, spaced apart and providing an open top, a concrete filler wall between said shells and sccurin the shells together. and reinforcing 'chann'c shaped top and bottom bands SUP-- rounding set forth.
3. A storage receptacle consisling'ol' inner and outer corrugated shcct metal shells spaced apart, a concrete fillcr wall between the shells and'securing the shclls together, reinforcing channel shaped hands surrounding said outer shell and channel shapcd clips connecting said channel shaped hands, substantially as sct forlh. I (l. K. HARRY.
